I thought I may do only one a week. The reviews have been more indepth as the seasons go along and I have a hard time getting two a week done. Besides which she is the only one we ever see writing scrolls. >Joxer is barely literate, Virgil is busy writting epic poems I can't spell, >David is busy seducin Bathsheba, and Xena is hardly would be writting >scrolls, jus ain't her style. I think she also wrote the Blue Scroll from >Between The Lines just that her name has disappeared from it. I said Xena but I kinda meant it tongue-in-cheek. ;) She didn't read Gabrielle's scrolls as it was. Virgil had an interest in XnG - his dad told him plenty of stories. Didn't Virgil tell Gabs when he met her that she was an influence to him? So I assumed Virgil would be a good candidate for scroll-writing, even if it was just one. Joxer, I said, also kinda tongue-in-cheek, but he did tell Virgil stories about XnG, even if they were a tad embellished. So I guessed maybe Joxer *could have* written a scroll or two. David, obviously, from "Giant Killer" because I think he said something about wanting to write a scroll about Xena. Bathsheba? Did I miss that episode? The Blue Scroll. Perhaps Gabrielle's reincarnated self wrote that one. cr wrote: << Obviously not known to Gabby at the time, are all Xena's doings when Gabby isn't present. Arguably, many of those could have been related to her later (offscreen) by Xena, though it argues a fantastically accurate and comprehensive memory on Xena's part. (I don't find that satisfying because I want to believe that everything I see on screen is accurate and really happened that way, not just a product of Gabby 'filling in the gaps'. That brings in the probability that much of the story is an invention of Gabby's, which I cannot accept, not from Gabby, not from any observer who has a personal interest in the events). >> Maybe she scribbled in the margins: "New boots for Xena." "Borias/Ch'in/Lao Ma, Alti, Amazons." "Eggs, milk, bread, tp." We're either supposed to believe Xena went through the details and Gabrielle wrote them all down, or that Gabrielle heard the story and imagined it ("Gabrielle, many years ago my army..." [Gabrielle goes into dreamsequence a la Wayne's World]). Since I can't decide which, I settle for in-between. I figured I'd get rid of my obsession after the finale. But noooo. It's still more interesting to me than most of the other (few) shows I watch. I love that one. Gabby's obsession with herself is a hoot all by itself. That scene where Xena pulls out her sword and lets Gab admire herself in it is priceless. Then there's Xena whistling, listening to Gabs fight with some remark like "you're beautiful when you're angry." And the touching bit with Xena as a little girl fishing with her brother Lyceus. I almost put that in my top 10 instead of A Day in the Life. Almost. If for sentimental reasons alone, I'd have to have ADITL as one of the eps I wouldn't want lost in a shipwreck. - -- Ife ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list.
