As you suggested earlier, saving Gabs is way past "moral" -- so instinctive to Xena that the ethical aspect may be in choosing the lesser of evil "by any means necessary" ways to do that. > > > But what would she have done/said, if Gabrielle > > hadn't intervened? He killed somebody, so who cared which somebody? If they got all the other Romans later, they'd still probably get the one who really did it. She also ran the risk of making the two camps suspicious of each other, if they began to doubt it was an outsider. - -- Ife ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. Hi, Jackie opined: >--I **love** GTorres to death (I wanted her to come to speak to our last >Hawai'i Xenafest but her schedule didn't permit it ;( ), but as I >mentioned earlier, this new show, Firefly, is seriously lacking in >*good plotlines*. :=( > >Although I'd support any of her efforts in general, I don't know if it's >fair to keep a *bad* show on the air just because she's in it.....;=/ I have to respectfully disagree. _Firefly_ has so far been an excellent show that is getting better and better each episode. Last night's episode was brilliantly constructed, and was a better pilot than the first episode was (but I'm not really counting the first episode as a part of the series, since FOX forced it to be made in less than half the time of a normal episode because everyone at the network is an idiot). If nothing else, _Firefly_ deserves to live because it is the first show set in outer space that ever depicted space as *silent*. (Even _Babylon 5_ succumbed to the "if you see an explosion, you gotta hear the explosion even though there is nothing for the sound waves to move through" syndrome.) Actually, if I have any quibble with _Firefly_ it is that Gina Torres has been sorely underutilized so far. She spent this week's episode, which would have provided ample opportunity for Zoe to kick some butt, knocked out in the medical bay. :P Still, I'm holding out hope that we will see much more from her character when/if FOX allows the season's story arc to start up (they have been showing the episodes deliberately out of order to make sure that they're all safely standalone, see my comments about idiots above). Now, if we're going to talk about bad new shows, let's talk about _Birds of Prey_. But I don't get that channel on cable -- I have to get it from satellite. I have Dish, and their listing claims they'll have it an hour later. So be *sure* you know when you're going to get the show, if it matters to you. Which is a fine paid to the family in the case of accidental death. This fine could be in money or labor so actually you could have worked the story to make Gabby perform some deed to make an amends for her actions. The fact that the tribes have this very rigid law about accidental death is probably more of a plot device than anthropoligally realistic. I would hate to see yet another series with the marvelous Gina Torres go off the air. Thanks.... Now you see this why I hate network TV - a series just get going and is starting to jell they want to cancel it. I'll sign the petition but I doubt if it will do any good. You know I feel it's just a complete waste of time to watch anything on the networks unless it is already a bonifide hit. Unfortunately there just so many doctor shows, lawyer/police shows I can tolerate. I like action/adventure and scifi but there is no place for it on TV (obviously not even the Scifi channel has much use for it either).
