Did I say I liked the Amarice/Joxer/Eli (!) thread much more than the 'heaven' one in FA? Only one saving the 'heaven' thread was Callisto, IMO. But I'm perverse that way. ;) cr ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. I thought Paradise Found was the only one. Were there any other eps with so few? Woulda kept production costs down! ;) > The actors are pretty good here. Interestingly enough, many fans seem to have disliked this one. Maybe the Mavican - T&A factor put them off. IMO Ares must have been going through a severe dry spell if he thought Maxiboobs was any substitute for Xena. ;) > The most interesting point of the story is Ares clever little executive > search for the job of his chosen. To really give Gabs a try-out? Or is it just a hope of Ares' that Xena, seeing Gabs in peril, will cave in and agree to be his - what was the name of the post? - his mistress and number one lieutenant, I guess. > Ares is > significantly impressed that he can see Gabrielle as Xena's potential > success. I *loved* the innocent look on Xena's face when she and Mavican were dangling on the ropes in the cave and Mavican called on Ares for help. Ares: "Mavican-- are you asking for my help?" Mav: "Yes-- I'm asking for your help, god of war." And Xena adds so helpfully, "She's asking for your help." She had it all figured out, she *knew* exactly what Ares was going to do. Ares (to Mavican): "I said you could, I never said you should." Oh what an evil sense of humour. Gotta love the guy. ;) cr ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. After Fallen Angel I'm RT was looking for a fairly cheap episode. > " Interestingly enough, many fans seem to have disliked this one. Maybe the Mavican - T&A factor put them off. IMO Ares must have been going through a severe dry spell if he thought Maxiboobs was any substitute for Xena. ;)" I think Ares was going some other kind of spell if you ask me. After his roll in the hay with Mavican he was blowing chakram smoke rings. I think Mavican was just a poor substitute for Xena in Ares eyes. Mavican, of course, took things much more seriously. " Hmmm, is that the reason? To really give Gabs a try-out? Or is it just a hope of Ares' that Xena, seeing Gabs in peril, will cave in and agree to be his - what was the name of the post? - his mistress and number one lieutenant, I guess." Oh maybe somewhere in the back of his mind was this idea but I don't think he ever thought Xena would suddenly join him to save Gabrielle. Oddly enough up until Soul Possession Ares had never used Gabrielle as a bargaining chip with Xena - he has used Xena to manipulate Gabrielle but never the reverse. Maybe he never realized how much Xena carried really cared about Gabrielle. No I do think he was testing Gabrielle and he alos knew that would drive Xena nuts (an added bonus)/ > > " Which, I guess, eventually came true in Friend in Need. Although I really can't see it, myself. ;)" Well you're just an old crumedgen when comes to Gabby (sigh). You just can't see her potential for rape and pillage like Ares (I can't either but maybe Ares saw himself as a lethal Henry Higgins and Gabrielle as Eliza Doolittle with a battle axes instead of flowers). > > > " Well, not quite. I *loved* the innocent look on Xena's face when she and Mavican were dangling on the ropes in the cave and Mavican called on Ares for help. " Yes I just love her evil grin when Mavican calls on Ares. Ares ain't the only one an evil sense of humor. CherylA ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list.
