I actually was surprised they let her use her real accent, as sometimes she's not always understandable when doing so (she tends to project less with a Kiwi accent, IMO), and that, although her lines were few, that she was always in some shot or two surrounding those who did have lines. Basically, IMO, they sponged off of LL's celebrity, without actually making her work too hard for it. ;=) That's a pretty good deal for her, IMO. ;) (All the promos mentioned her name, etc.) BTW, I think Meredith was right when she said Firefly wouldn't be around long. I watched it tonight, and although I *love* GTorres, the show's got a *lot* to be desired......;=( There's almost no plot and no interesting characters, and minimal explanation of who's who to keep audience interest (IMO). Kinda too bad, since, like Meredith said, Josh Wheedon is behind it......;( Just MO, - --Jackie ****************************************************** * Proud to have the same birthday as Lucy Lawless! * * * * "I think New Zealand geographically comes from * * ... You do have a tape of Sin Trade I take it? Never mind, we'll bring one with us. And the Herc trilogy. You just need a Warrior Princess top-up. Just hang on and do not, whatever you do, let yourself think about the words 'Bard' or 'Scrolls'. cr ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. Sorry - but I think you just pushed my hot button. > > CherylA Hey, no problem. But I think you're making unfounded assumptions - that if Xena had Ares' child she would have been obliged to settle down with him. I don't think the series would have allowed her to become domesticated. I think the story could have diverged in a quite different direction. Umm, Xena-and-Ares child would have been an immortal, like Herc. And maybe with a lot of Xena's powers too. Suppose she turned out bad, like Hope (or, umm, Livia? Hmm, not too much difference there.) But I'm certain the writers would have come up with something entertaining. And who says Xena or her child would have lived in poverty? Ares might be 'rotten' morally but he *was* the God of War. Besides, why would having Ares' child have condemned Xena to a life of poverty any more than having Eve did? And anyway, in the series, Xena's child *was* condemned to live without a mother, even if she had a decent foster-father. So I'm sure they would have fixed it. But anyway, regardless of who the father is, I really don't see that getting Xena pregnant requires Fallen Angel to happen. I really would rather X and G had been rescued while still alive. Somehow, aside from my slight misgivings about Christian religious themes and my major aesthetic doubts about all those angels floating around (how kitsch!), I do think (as others have commented) that all these dyings-and-coming-backs rather devalue death. Or maybe it's just the cliffhanger that is a bit devalued. We saw 'em on crosses and I'd rather they'd got off them without 100% miraculous intervention. cr ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. Just a thought as a follow up to my previous post The Dark Chakram was found in Ares tomb in Xena scrolls But what happened to the chakram of light and its power? Could a Wizard named merlin have found the chakram of light? could he have use magic to re forge it into a sword?
