Evidently not, as your citations which I just snipped for bandwidth demonstrate. However, the Christian image is the one, often the only one, that many of us are familiar with. But quite aside from that, the other reason I found it disconcerting was quite unrelated to religion, just the sudden contrast between the sombre crucifixion scene and the upbeat 'ascension' scene. It completely undercut the mood that had been building for the previous five minutes. It was anticlimactic and just a little bit hackneyed. It was (though I'm sure RT didn't intend it that way) bathos. Anyway, nice to debate with you. Well, no, we saw it all in Fallen Angel. If Amarice, Joxer and Eli were enough to get Xena and Gabby's dead bodies down off the crosses, they could equally have got X&G's not-quite-dead bodies down. One notices that after Fallen Angel, there was no more talk of Roman pursuit (or if there was, it was a minor point). No, I think your comment earlier about the lack of worry regarding Roman pursuit bears thought. It would have taken time for the news of C,JC's death to reach Mount Amaro. More time, in all likelihood, that it took for X and G to die. So while Amarice. Same thing happened to my tape. Grrrr. However, I do have a slightly different take on her appearance. I think it offered a rare opportunity for Lucy to appear as herself post-Xena, which is a little different from being a guest *character.* Sure, she didn't have many lines, but she was in more scenes than I thought from first viewing. And it kind of established that she has "celebrity" status like other actors who appear in shows as themselves. I also liked that the context was a charity event for children. All in all, I imagine Lucy did it as much for fun as anything. Even the shank shot she hit was so exaggerated that it played into the ridiculousness of Bernie's assumptions about Lucy vs. the character she played. I wasn't that impressed by the show and of course would love for Lucy to have had more lines. He was willing to offer a large reward for her body, after all -- even if goaded into that by Callisto, he was willing for his own part, I'm sure. No, he wanted Xena out of his misery. I voiced the thought that it should have gone back whence it came when Xena died, as Excalibur did when Arthur died. I felt tthat as *the* symbol of Xena, it should have gone with her, even more than her sword and armour. And somebody suggested that maybe the chacky had a consciousness and went over to Gabby because it wanted to go on 'living'. That would explain some things, like the way it was able to operate independently of Xena (who was unconscious under the ice) in Coming Home, cruising around off-camera in lurk mode and coming back to blast the Furies. But as someone asked (and I cant better her wording) then "why did the chakram allow callisto to catch it on several occasions? was it fickle? disloyal? or just bored?" (ROTFL!!)
