When the fans noticed and expressed how much they liked it, > TPTB > began to focus on the touches to feed the relationship/subtext angle. > Quite possibly. I'm also thinking that L&R gave much more to their characters early on than was expected. Let's say they discussed how Xena would thaw gradually in terms of emotions, and that they played the closing scene in Death in Chains with that in mind. Given the camera's focus on their faces, it seems Xenastaff might have been in synch on that. Yet, in that moment, Lucy might have have instinctly responded (still in character) more than planned -- by either wanting to or actually putting her arm around Gabrielle. There might have been other times when it seemed natural that they would touch, but held back because the moment wasn't dramatic enough to call for more. IOW, it might not have been a response to fans, so much as an evolution they had planned all along, but without initially recognizing or capturing some of the body language that went along with the expressions. E.g., in Death, I don't know that Xena's putting her arm around Gabrielle would've undermined Xena's obvious surprise at Gabrielle's seeking solace from her. Yet, if close-ups had been called for, that wouldn't be captured. I'd imagine Xenastaff couldn't remember every detail about the eps, but it sure would be fascinating to know what was planned in advance, happened spontaneously/accidentally, or was determined in the editing. - -- Ife ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. Ooh lawd, I hope he gets it. He really pushed himself in Season VI, turned out some amazing sound. I've told several people who enjoy really expressive classical music that they should pick up the last Xena soundtrack, but I always get a 'look' - but Joe is an amazing composer. Like Christophe Beck (the guy who did all the music for Season IV of Buffy. And speaking of Buffy...) > Back to the fruitless search for nominations for > _Buffy_ ... No nominations?? :( Or - nominations for every category having to do with best dramatic hairstyling and best application of makeup, I bet. I say, after that [exhausting] last season, *somebody* needs to win *something*. S. ===== == . . . Yahoo!
