She certainly came a long way 2 > seasons later in "Saving Hoplite Ryanae" I disagree. The range was possibly much greater in A Good Day, and she also had to miss Phlanagus (i.e. avoid the risk of hitting him). In Ides Xena was lying on the ground well clear, and the Roman soldier was approaching head-on with no deflection at close range - and Albert (the stuntie) is as wide as a barn door. So, definitely not a YAXI, IMO. cr ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. My only intent in the post was to discuss, and perhaps speculate a little bit on, the known facts surrounding Fallen and how they may relate to FIN, if any do at all. For instance, the story might have been salvageable, if the same FIN elements that turn up in Fallen were pulled out. The writers have, in the past, made major rewrites and in a very short period of time. Missy is a very fast writer and could possibly have rewritten the script to cover the changes. It is possible Rob Tapert felt so passionately about this story as it is that it was either go with all the story elements as written or don't do it at all. Another possibility could have been that R.J. Stewart, who is loathe to drastically rewrite another writer's script, may have felt it wasn't possible to produce the script as it was without gutting it and opted for dropping it. After all, they did have a full plate of scripts they planned to produce, including FIN. Fallen was likely considered redundant. And I am having fun wondering why he chose Missy Good, a fanfic writer, to pitch the story to rather than a more experienced scriptwriter. There really is no answer to any of these questions because Missy has been fairly general in her comments about the script and the process behind the script. As it should be, I think. I realize many people are not interested in such speculation, since there is no way of determining the truth. But my speculation is idle and this has been the direction my mind is turning thus far over the long, hot summer. Thanks for responding. bd ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. Mohammad Khordadian, Iran's best known male dancer, was also given a 10 year suspended jail term for promoting moral corruption by holding dance classes in the United States, according to the ruling, handed down Sunday. It also barred him from attending public celebrations or weddings of people who are not his relatives for three years, laywer Abdolrahman Rasouli said." I particularly like the wedding a celebration part - the court must have thought he spontaniously burst out into dance and others would follow him. "This was season 4 and while she threw her staff with pinpoint accuracy in season one's "Greater Good", you would think a spear would not be a problem." Perhaps but the spear might have been a lot heavier and with the iron tip it would have been balanced differently. So her inexperience at throwing that combined with the real possibility she did choke made missing realistic. "Also, in Ides she drills the Roman soldier with a spear throw that hits dead center (no pun intended). With Xena's life in danger, Gabby always hit her target, so for me, I would have to say either she let her mind psyche herself out (this was Gabby's soul searching season) OR perhaps the distance to Flanagus was greater than the times she saved Xena." Or having screwed-up she might have been practicing with a spear when we weren't watching (this is before she met Eli, of course). I could actually see Gabrielle being so bothered by this that she really tried to learn how to use the weapon. Who's Gurkhan - technically neither X or G kill Gurkhan and he is the only one killed on stage. Fallen Angel - I don't thing X or G kills any of the demons or angels. I thought perhaps When Fates Collide but I can't remember if Xena killed any of the Roman soldiers or merely wounded them and of course theoretically Gabrielle did kill a whole world, sort of. Oooh, that's a good one. I'd like to see her do something theatrical ... for instance, I love the fact that ROC is currently playing Lady Macbeth in a summer stock theater production. That is just so cool (and dammit, I wish I could see it!). I'd love to see Lucy tackle Shakespeare ... like Desdemona, for instance (_Othello_ has long been my favorite Shakespeare play). Or Rosalind in _As You Like It_. As far as film goes, something totally out of character in an independent film would be intriguing too - playing a junkie or something like that. (Like Ben Stiller in _Permanent Midnight_, only believable.) Mainstream film ... an intelligent screwball comedy (but with a director who forces her *not* to resemble Meg in any way, shape or form). Or a random cameo in a flick by the likes of Robert Altman or Kevin Smith (the View Askew one). Then again, it'd be a hoot to see her in a Merchant/Ivory costume drama. The cool thing is, we know from watching her in X:WP that she is versatile and capable enough to pull off any of these kinds of roles, and more. That's what makes the specter of typecasting all the more frustrating. ============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth ============================================== Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://www.smoe.org/meth/muzak.html ============================================== ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list.
