I was sure Peter Jackson was going to get an award for something. But others of his crew did which was alright by me! Special effects, cinematography, make-up. My only disappointment was that Ngila Dickson, who was up for costuming, didn't get it. I would have loved to see who she was, you know, what she looked like. But the New Zealanders and Australians accepting awards made everyone sure to know that they were there : ) L ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. And Xena isn't being quite the dutiful daughter - "I'm crazy and you're dead. Let's go!" (Love that line!) Cyrene knows her influence on Xena is approximately zero, so maybe she can be excused a certain degree of resignation (which is how I saw it) when Xena takes off, as you say, to kill herself. Talking of over-the-top performances, I personally liked Alceto and the other two Furies - they were fun. But Xena had most of the best lines - "I may be crazy but I'm not stupid" and G: I think we have a serious problem, here, Xena. X: I could lose the daisies. G: It's not your look that I'm talking about. It's what's going on inside your head. X: You don't wanna go there, it's terrifying. Ares had a couple of good moments too, like when the Furies agreed to punish Xena and the God of War leans back and says "Cool!" Maybe it is the precursor of some serious heavy stuff in Season 3, but I like it best simply as a fun episode to watch. Or something like that. Mammalian diving reflex. Comes in very handy during extremely late nights in bars. And the gods know Xena is one magificent diving mammal. There is lot to like in this homage to Ground Hog's Day (I actually like the Xena episode better than the movie). First we have a great performance by LL as the increasingly frustrated Xena copes with her recurring day. Favorite parts: Xena's hysterical tantrum when she wakes to find that the day still repeats after she has made peace between the warring families and then proceeds to detail her frustrations while standing on her head to a dumbstruck Gabby and Joxer; Xena's kills Joxer with her chakram much to the Gabrielle's panic astonishment; Joxer apparently discovers a hicky on Xena and Gabrielle's bemused expression at this revelation; and Xena calmly making measurements in preparation for a wild charkram throw while a wild brawal takes around her. There is also a famous subtext moment when Xena conforts Gabrielle after Joxer's funeral. Xena gently cradles Gabrielle in her arms as they go to sleep - it's a wonderful scene because of its simplicity and innocence. Great insights. KT initially got me to see how Furies presaged much of season 3. Your comments about free will and deceit add even more.
