Partly due to 'moral' reasons, partly technical. Having seen the show, I think a tape would not have been much use, for three reasons - the sound system was set at a fairly low level; visual cues (i.e. watching the actors) did help to understand what they were saying; and most importantly, "you had to be there" - or at least, without seeing the actors, a sound tape would not convey very much. A properly produced videotape would be the ideal. T ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. And if this is maligning than I accept that." It is of course not maligning TPTB to say you did not like FIN. Everyone has the right to their opinion. I, however, cannot accept the premisss that Rob Tapert spent so much time, money, and effort for the single purpose of insulting the Xena fans. He wanted to end the series the way he thought the Xena saga should end. If that is self-serving then I guess it is but I aren't all creative endeavors self-serving in some sense. No one can convince anyone to like something they just don't care for. All I was saying was that on seeing the documentary on FIN you could tell that Rob, Lucy, Renee and the crew of Xena were trying to make the best show possible and they all cared deeply about the quality of the work they were doing. This is from Columbia House and is by subscription, just like they are doing with the VHS tapes. There are two episodes on each DVD, but no mention is made of any extras. I doubt there are any. Columbia House quotes a price of $24.95 per DVD, excluding shipping and handling. This clears up a comment Sharon Delany made at this year's Pasadena Con. Someone asked why Universal/studios USA was releasing the 6th season first and Sharon thought it was because Columbia House was doing the other end, the beginning seasons. At the time I thought it odd, since Columbia House has been shipping the video tapes for more than a year now, and is into the second season. Now I understand. This makes me wonder if the 6th season will be handled the same way, two episodes per DVD. I suppose it will be the same as with Columbia House, but I won't know until the 6th season comes out. bd ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list.
