They certainly weren't kind to Rob in Bruce's portrayal of him. T ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. Rachel Weisz The Warrior Queen After fighting her way to the top of the box-office charts in The Mummy and its big-budget sequel, Rachel Weisz is taking on a new tough-girl role - as Roman Queen Boudicca. Weisz will team up with fellow British star Dougray Scott for the flick - dubbed Warrior Queen. The actress will play feisty rebellion leader Boudicca, with Scott taking the role of her macho lover. The Warner Brothers movie will tell the tale of the first-century uprising against the Romans led by Boudicca, the head of the Iceni tribe who revolted against the occupying forces after her husband died and her daughters were raped. //// I liked Weisz more in Enemy at the Gates than in the Mummy films. There were two older, minor films about Boudicca, both made by the British-- Boadicea, 1925, a silent, starring Phyllis Neilson-Tetry as B. The Viking Queen, 1967, a Hammer film made in the spirit of the Italian pepla, with a model named Carita as B. I thought at the time they missed a great oportunity for an inside joke. The episode was made at about the time Tapert and Lucy were getting married so I thought it would have been funny if Rob kept getting calls from Lucy about the wedding - should we have chicken or fish, what kind of flowers should there be, where would the fishing be best for the honeymoon. I heard earlier this month at Alex Kingston (the female Brit doctor in "ER") was going to start filming on a TV movie called Warrior Queen, this summer, that would be shown in the US and UK. Is this the same movie, I wonder? S. She looks a lot like Jennifer Ward-Lealand, who portrayed Boadicea quite well on X:WP. Though then I'd probably just end up thinking she should be playing Boudicca instead of Rachel Weisz. :) ======================================= Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth "an eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind" -- mahatma gandhi ======================================= Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://www.smoe.org/meth/muzak.html ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. The first film up to bat was DR. NO. As I was watching I said to myself as James' fem du jour was about to be drowned in a rising tide of water, "Hey, that looks familiar." It reminded me of LOCKED UP AND TIED DOWN but without the crabs. Wait a minute this menaced maiden business was taking place on Crab Key Island Jamaica . With a little shifting Crab Key becomes Shark Island and Thalassa is menaced by crabs. For those of you unfamiliar with the movie here is a description of the plot from: http://movie-reviews.colossus.net/movies/d/dr_no.html << Story-wise, Dr. No isn't all that different from most of the other Bond plotlines, although it is a little more "bare bones". When a British agent assigned to Jamaica disappears, M (Bernard Lee) sends 007 to the Caribbean to look into the situation. Upon arrival, Bond is immediately the target of a would-be assassin, and, as his investigation leads him closer to the truth, attempts on his life become more frequent. After joining forces with CIA operative Felix Leiter (Jack Lord), Bond enlists the aid of boat owner Quarrel (John Kitzmiller) to take him to Crab Key Island, which is ruled by the mysterious Dr. No (Joseph Wiseman). Once there, in addition to meeting a scantily-dressed young woman named Honey Ryder (Ursula Andress), 007 learns why no one ever returns from Crab Key. >> No one ever returns from Shark Island. Again I admire TPTB for their craftiness. Richan ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list.
