More seriously, IMO that sequence has *the* best still picture (or screencap) of the entire series - Callisto in silhouette holding her sword ready to strike downwards while Xena approaches on Argo from behind, also in silhouette (or nearly so), and the whole background is greenish-gold sawgrass with white feathery tassels. The composition of the shot is like a classical painting. > Xena has failed Gabrielle and things just get worse. Gabrielle now is > consumed by hate she goads Xena into teaching her to fight. There were a couple of other things I noticed about the ep - first, right at the start, the resourceful way Callisto goaded the guard into coming into her cell and beating her up so she could lift his dagger - and then said 'thank you'. It really established how cunning and determined - and fearless - Callisto is. (That sequence was cut the first time they showed it on NZ TV - - which left me imagining someone must have smuggled the dagger in to her. The correct version is *much* better). The other thing I instantly noticed from that scene was the way the camera circled round Callisto and the guard - I said "T J Scott!" - and it was. There are some strange camera angles in the Gab-Xena "teach me to kill" confrontation, too, where the camera is tilted sideways. > There are a few side notes to this episode. I think it was her, however since she didn't have a speaking line, she isn't in the credits. Logomancy says nothing on the subject, nor does Xorys in the Whoosh epguide for LP, though he mentions a bunch of Herc eps she was in, so it seems very likely to me that she was the girl in RoC. > Warrior...Priestess...Tramp Umm, Warrior...PRINCESS...Tramp I think. ;) > introduces Xena's third look alike Meg future > wife of Joxer and mother of Virgil but who right now is a prostitute. This > is a fun episode a bit jarring to be seen right after TROC (I assume it > should have aired before TROC but perhaps Lucy's accident caused Intimate > Stranger to be behind in production). But then, comedies were often inserted at random... e.g., between The Debt 2 and Maternal Instincts we had *three* comedies none of which had to do with the 'Rift' arc... King of Assassins, Warrior Priestess Tramp, and The Quill Is Mightier - and then at the start of MI Xena and Gabs are talking as if they've just got back from Chin. > Anyway ROC is very funny as a very > angry Gabrielle who keeps being thrown in a dungeon by her friend Xena > (actually Meg in disguise). I thought even Joxer was good - and less irritating than usual - when he kept falling foul of the Meg - Diana - Xena confusion. > Anyway very funny episode - > Lucy does a nice job but she doesn't stay in her many characters as well as > did in Warrior... Priestess... It also has one of my favourite Xena quotes - "I like dark". Always nice reading your episode reviews - thank you. Princess.. etc' eps. :( T ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. Ring tone mania ahead! When I was checking out the Starship appeal article I chanced upon the ring tone advertisment. I thought what the heck? Maybe there's a Xena ring tone... Well, not at the New Zealand Herald anyway. So I decided it was search engine time! Yes there is a Xena ring tone! One code to look for is 1065. http://www.nokfun.co.uk/TVMovie_ringtones_page_3.asp Surely there must be other codes / versions out there.
