Young" Subject: [chakram-refugees] OS: KSorbo on ET 12/27/01 Just saw KSorbo on ET tonight 12/27. They made a big deal of how he had cut his hair for Andromeda, and also showed several scenes from Andromeda. He said he wanted to do something to distance himself from the Herc character, so he cut his hair about 8"-10", and lost 20 lbs. of muscle. He didn't want to say for sure, but he thinks Andromeda will run for a 3rd season. They also announced the birth of his new baby, Brendon, which actually is old news from about 6 mos. ago....? ;( Guess they didn't have time to air it at the time, and used an old pic of the baby from People? or Us? mags. He said he used to not understand dads who wanted to show everyone baby photos, but now he's totally into that....;) Just FYI, - --Jackie ****************************************************** * Proud to have the same birthday as Lucy Lawless! * * * * "I think New Zealand geographically comes from * * ... XWP is still > being > >used by ignorant people as an insult I am a Xena fan and I commented after the movie that the uruk-hai reminded me of the horde from xena. But not as a negative comment. I look at it this way....at least xena is a part of the culture now that people refer to it when talking about fantasy movies or tv shows (much like most of the fantasy genre today owes its roots to tolkein). You dont hear many comments that refer to sheena, sinbad, conan, queen of swords, or roar or other shows...pretty much xena, star trek and buffy. The "ignorant" critics should know that all fantasy genre feed off each other. Without shows of past we have no present- without hercules there was no xena- without xena there is no outbreak of female lead butt-kicking characters in movies and tv (including dark angel, cleo 2525, and shows mentioned above). So.........if people wanna pick on xena they have her on their mind. Heck; they picked on star trek after it left the air and you see where it is after 30 plus years. Go Xena!!!!! Vic (wondering what happened to the show Roar) ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. Miller" Subject: Re: [chakram-refugees] Lord of the Rings Saw the hour long promotional thingee -- "A Passage to Middle-earth: The Making of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" -- about two weeks ago on the SCIFI channel. and saw the film last week. They stopped showing it this month and it's not scheduled in January. (I think the deal is that it is the same "making of " company; There are different versions in time and content.) *It started out about how gorgeous N.Z. with Elijah Wood saying N.Z. IS middle-earth and others interviewees that there are isn't any other country that matches Tolkien's description, so closely. *Brief interview with Ngila. *Some tape of Kiwi stunties ( I love those Kiwi accents) instructing the actors playing the monster hoard how to move. *One of the crew said Jackson WAS a Hobbit. Talked about Jackson running around during the snow scenes barefoot and in shorts. Then went into Jackson being a Kiwi. I know that it was an accidental false syllogism, ;~) but the crew member seemed to be suggesting Kiwis are Hobbits. Or some are. (Lucy is more of a Tolkien elf.) The movie was like if a X:WP episode had a HUGE budget and a GENIUS director. That's the highest compliment I can pay it! Did get a little lost thought. But I've never read the books. A mailing list just for Heavenly Creatures? Wild! Hope LOR success means will see some videos of Jackson's more obscure movies in wider release.
