Yay, I got a package delivered today (very speedily too, I just ordered it a few days ago!) - the uncensored version of Claudia Christian's "Taboo" music video (Claudia Christian was Ivanova on "Babylon 5", for those unfamiliar with her), the one directed by Claire Stansfield and starring Claudia and Alexandra Tydings! (And a grrl named Seb, who some of you might remember from the Palo Alto Xena con last year, Hudson brought her onstage!) Anyway, I just have to say that it's incredible (Claudia can really sing, and the song is damn good as well), and the word "erotic" doesn't even begin to describe how sexy it is!! :) It's too bad Claire wasn't in it too, heh. Anyway, the uncensored version is $50, available from claudiachristian.net...Alex sells it also at alextydings.com, but not the uncensored one I think? I wonder what the "censored" one is like, hmm. -Sarah, aka the abbagirl- P.S. Yesterday I ordered my tix for the Chicago Xena/Trek con in January, yay. :) Claire & Alex are the only X:WP guests however (big sigh)...but at least they're doing their acclaimed "Triple XXX Revue" cabaret show again, which I finally got to see at the San Jose con. And I'll get to hang with my Chicago Xenite pals. Whatever happened to Chicago Xena Nights, anyway?? ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. Spoilers on <> Spoilers on <> Spoilers on <> Hi folks, Well for the last couple months I have been working on an article about the episode <> to be posted on Whoosh! in January. It is in. It has been accepted. I am nervous and scared. Would anyone be willing to look at it, just for feedback, before it goes out for real? http://whoosh.org/issue64/sprintz1.html For those who have thought of doing same, let me give you a brief explanation: Also, it was such an interesting process that I didn't feel as overwhelmed as I had first anticipated. Once the idea of the article was accepted by publication, I started working on it and got the first draft into Whoosh in November, I believe. Then, I found out that KYM TABOR was doing the re-writes. Gees, was that scarey. This woman is down to earth, to the point, and has great humor. And is a genius as well. I should have known that by looking at Whoosh for three years! What also helped was reading an article on whoosh from earlier this year when Missy Good was intereviewed at the 2001 Pasadena convention by Lisa Alexander (see "This months articles." [for December] at http://whoosh.org/index.html. Good discussed how the connection between her and Rob Tabert/ Xena/Rennaisance happened, and how she, who was a fan-fic writer of Xena books, ended up writing two episodes for Season 6. Missy Good brought it all down to earth, and discussed the process of offering writing, having it returned with suggestions and re-writes, etc. , the timing that's involved; she also discussed the professionalism of the group and how easy they made it working with them. Well, on a smaller scale, I feel that Whoosh is doing the same with us. Kym thanked me for getting the article in for re-write as soon as possible. She eventually sent back my draft (this is all through email) . Then she got it back to me only a few days later, and we were on a roll. I got back another rough draft. Then she sent me the third rough of how, approximately, it would like up on Whoosh's website. I liked it SO much. What they had done, in addition, was taken a couple of lines that were sloppy, or didn't have enough finness or continuity or humor, and redid them. Sometimes whole lines. My sister, who is a professional writer, said that, yes, one has to get used to that. The final suggestions I needed to make was made easier because, from the time I got it back in its "whoosh" form, the paragraphs were all numbered. All I had to do was jot done the numbered paragraph, make the comment of change requested, and send that back. Easy. It seems I made a small mistake by not sending my picture in on time. Oh well. I will be getting the Mask of the Amazon Queen instead as my portrait. : ( ) The people at whoosh along with being wonderful and rescourceful Xenites, are professional, succinct, and in addition have lots of knowledge about the series itself and also about TV and movie genre, from the discussions we've had. IN ADDITION, They took my rather amateur writing and cleaned it and honed it, and fit it in with their own style of expertise and humor. The humor and smoothness were interesting. I was pleased that they made my rather amateur work look and sound so much better. I would HIGHLY recommend this just for the fun, and seeing your name in print. It's a good up for the ego, when one needs that. Cheers, everyone Lilli ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. That's why I stayed away from Laser Discs when they came out years ago. They might have had extra material on them but I wasn't about to invest in a separate player that wouldn't record. Even now, I don't have a separate DVD player. I have a DVD/CD-ROM drive on my PC with a 19" monitor. When DVD players/recorders come down to my price range, I'll probably buy one. However, I have a large VHS tape collection that I won't be ready to part with for quite awhile. I have a few DVDs now but the Xena DVDs will be my first major DVD investment. I'm not surprised since it was XWP that prompted me to finally buy my own PC. :-) Debbie Gabsfan@aol.com "I'll rise, but I refuse to shine." This anthrax thing seems to have the Postal Service even more screwed up than usual, even Priority Mail seems to be taking 4 days rather than 2-3. Remember they have 2 distribution centers and part of another shut down, it does seem to have some impact. I got newsletter 16 last week here in CT. But keep in mind that cross-country mail has been a mess lately. A friend in northern CA mailed me something 6 weeks ago, and I have yet to see it. It's probably in Kansas getting irradiated against anthrax, or something. :/ No calendar yet, but I just got off my butt and ordered it last weekend. :} I'm not expecting it until I get back home from the holidays. ======================================= Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth "an eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind" -- mahatma gandhi ======================================= Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://www.smoe.org/meth/muzak.html ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list.
