I hope she finds something more useful to put her talents to. I would LOVE to see that. It also is a little boring seeing her in another setting where she got to be really serious, naked, involved in lots of violence. I know that Lawless needed to put her acting career out there in something other than Xena. I suppose when there ARE LIMITED roles for women, there is a risk one takes when putting one's acting ability out there. >> I believe Lucy said this particular "gig" was a "labor of love" based on her respect for Carter and X-Files. So far, her other choices have been more comedic, and I suspect she'll look for non-Xenaish roles in the future. I wasn't as bothered by the ending of this (except at the moment I thought LL's character was totally kaput in terms of future eps), because Shannon reinforced the notion of the horror of genetically programmed soldiers, as well as the humanity inside those bio-robots, which still carried a sense of that horror. While I would've loved to see LL on screen more, it was also a chance for her to fufill her stated desire to play a range of emotions in a very short amount of time. In her brief appearances, it was incredible how she conveyed so much -- sensuality, mechanical determination, ruthlessness, vulnerability, compassion, self-questioning, awkwardness, confidence, sadness. That scene where she said "You didn't trust me" was awesome, coming from a supposed robot. Her words could've meant, "You didn't follow the plan I gave you," but her expression was more personal -- both in terms of her "allies" not having confidence in her and the danger they'd put themselves in because of that. I empathize with where you're coming from about the violent setting for all this. I just can't help but be happy Lucy got a chance to do so much with so little. And when I saw Shannon's eyes pop open at the end, I grinned at the *possibility* that we'd see more of her in the future. Hmmm, wonder if she'd have to wear a dark wig or dye her hair again, now that she's said she's going to change her "look"? - -- Ife ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. She is an interesting character with a nice sense of angst a supersoldier who regrets her choice or a conspirator out to get Doggert. She played the ambiguity well and when she rescues Doggert on the pier she has a nice reading of her line "You didn't trust me " sort of sad and wistful. Also all the rolling heads sort made me think of Xena (though I think Xena never was quit so bloody). BTW whose hand shot through Shannon was it that guy whose head she lopped off ( a touch of Xena there). Anyway there's hope for Shannon she seems alive perhaps she'll crawl out of the sea and be picked up a short green-eyed blond poet. It was nice to see her play with Anderson but I wish there would have been a little more interaction. To be frank I wish there was just a little more interaction from GA with the two episodes. Lucy is good and I hope to see her back but without Mulder and a part- time Scully I don't see much to keep me coming back to the X-Files except for LL. This is from a big X-Files fan - every episode on tape until last year. I don't think an occasional appearance by Lucy can save the series. I see the Buffy musical is coming out on CD ummm I wonder they got that idea from? Heh. They certainly left the door wide open ... Shannon stated that her type of supersoldier "can't be killed", and also she can breathe underwater. >I see the Buffy musical is coming out on CD ummm I wonder they got that idea >from? Um, from the marketing department at Mutant Enemy productions?? Actually there wasn't a firm plan for a CD until they got an overwhelming response from the fans within hours of the episode's broadcast (and, I daresay, a gander at the hit counters of the sites where MP3s were posted). I'll be pre-ordering my copy as soon as I can. ======================================= Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth "an eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind" -- mahatma gandhi ======================================= Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://www.smoe.org/meth/muzak.html ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list.
