Argh!!!!! Ahhh, that happened to me too!! I got home and watched the tape last night and got all annoyed with my roommate, thinking she taped it wrong...damn. Did we miss anything cool in the last 15 mins? I wouldn't mind seeing it too sometime... -Sarah, aka the abbagirl- (who was at the San Jose Xena/Trek con all weekend, yay! :) Report and pics coming soon!) P.S. Alex Tydings' episode of Sheena, "Treasure of the Sierra Mende," aired over the weekend as well and I missed it while at the con, darnit...at least Sheena will rerun here in a week or something...oh, and by the way, at the con Tsianina Joelson (Varia) mentioned she was on last Thursday's episode of "C.S.I."! (Which I woulda watched if I'd known she was gonna be on it..that girl needs an official website.) ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. (do we need spoilers... yup OK :) Spoilers for s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s This is of course the episode with the famous baby-tossing episode (though I believe Hercules previously tossed a damsel in distress and a pig, though not simultaneously). I thought the baby looked a little seasick during that event. Incidentally, for people who thought XWP got more violent in later eps - Xena didn't hesitate to kill common soldiery in a fight (where in later seasons she would more often just have knocked them out...) I thought Mary Elizabeth McGlynn was very good as Pandora... I'm a little surprised we never saw her in any later eps. And of course there was the twist in the tail... there was nothing in Pandora's box (but Pandora didn't know that...) No surprise it was Gabby who knocked it over though ;-) T ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. To all who care: With the exception of one person who asked that I delay, all tapes have been sent. Most were sent this afternoon. All today's packages were either one T-160 or one T-180 tape; they cost $3.50 to mail. The tapes themselves were a bit more expensive than I had originally said -- $2.50 (the same for both lengths, it turns out). When you receive your tape from me make sure it works properly -- I am by no means infallible. There is one defect -- about one second missing in the segment near the very end in which Xena is saying to Gabrielle, "If there is a reason for our travels together..." This is not new material, so you are not missing anything. In any case, I apologize about that -- for some reason the hard-disk recorder just didn't like that bit. Now I'll make trouble for myself. I have the first X-Files segment also on hard-disk, complete. I watched it as it recorded, and know this is without gaps (at least I've found none yet). For some odd reason, I haven't been able to record the second part yet... If you'd like this -- I will make T-120 copies of both eps -- please let me know soon -- my disk is getting very full, and I want to be able to delete programs. The copies probably won't be sent out until after Thanksgiving, as I'll be away for about a week then. I think it shows up occasionally on the SCIFI channel. I watched bit and pieces of it and it has faded from my mind. Also, sat through the last 15 minutes of the sitcom, "Hanging with Mr. Cooper," when she guest-stared. Just that episode, as far as I know. I'd make a cynical assumption and say many casting directors might not know what to do her, because (even though, she gorgeous) she's racially mixed. In the U.S., the most of the TV Power That Be still seemed really freaked out by that. Do you know the really big Mantis/X:WP connection? It's not Gayln. . .:~) Some wonderful casting. But mediocre show. But RP actually did the original movie but FOX TV! Which, I thought was pretty damn good. FOX kicked them off the show! I remember the whole thing backfired horribly on FOX. Every TV critics not only trashed the new version, they pointed out the only reason for the new version was to make the show less "black." (And really yeah, that is how I remember it. It felt unpleasant watching the new pilot, after the RP movie. ) I think FOX hired that idiot producer who does so many crappy sf/fantasy show that never last more than about a year. (Zabel?) (And to be fair, I watched bit and pieces of the reruns of the crappy version of Mantis, because of some nice casting done after RP-- Gayln and that RSC actor who stared in Nicholas Nickleby and guest stared in Cheers.) A super hero show filled with 3 dimensional black characters. Even now that would be a hard sell. Back in the early 90's, they were lucky to get the TV movie. What were they thinking? :~) ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Juno offers FREE or PREMIUM Internet access for less! Join Juno today! I thought however she was getting just a little too thin in the 6th season. Did you notice how her leathers hung on her? One of the big diffrences I noticed was that Lucy became much more graceful in her movements as the series went on. It especially helped when she started wearing her sword on her back - girls just don't have the hips for wearing sword on the side. The biggest change in Gabrielle was how buff she got. Seeing her in Amazon brownie outfit points that out. She doesn't have the broad shoulders or the more muscular arms that she has my the 6th season.
