I had a look at the Oxygen page yesterday, and they have listed a schedule for the expanded FIN showing. It is: 9:00 - 11:20 the episode 11:20 - 11:30 an installment of the animated series "X-Chromosome" 11:30 - 12:00 The "Pure Oxygen" interview with Lucy. Among other things, this implies that it may not -- probably not, actually -- all fit on a T-160 (recall that I will not be editing -- I don't have the equipment for that, so you'll get ads and all). Of course, maybe I'm wrong -- I won't know 'til I see the tape for myself. Sooo.... It seems to me that the options are: 1) The ep on a T-160 and the interview on a T-120, or 2) Both split on two T-120's, or 3) All on a T-180, or 4) Just the ep and whatever else may fit on a T-160, or 5) Maybe we'll be lucky and it will *all* fit on a T-160 Personally, I don't like the second option -- but use of the hard-disk as an intermediate would allow a clean split. T-180 tapes are readily available. At one time, VCR's were known for having difficulties with them. I do not believe this is still true -- though I have no definitive information on that. Once again, I have to ask that you, my "customers", let me know your wishes. Please wait until I post regarding the actual length -- this will likely be Monday evening or Tuesday morning. In two episodes of The X-Files, the actress who formerly starred in Xena: Warrior Princess runs around completely naked in southern California. "It was great fun," she said recently from her home in New Zealand. "I really thought only my crew on Xena was incredibly fun, but now I see film crews around the world are all of the same ilk." In a story airing Nov. 11 and 18, Lawless appears as Shannon McMahon - -- someone who served in the military with Agent Doggett (Robert Patrick). "Shannon keeps showing up with no clothes on, making trouble, and she's got vital information to impart about Scully's baby -- which might shed light on Scully's baby," Lawless said. "She's insinuating it might not be an ordinary child. "Shannon is such an ambiguous presence. You don't know if she's good or bad. She could well be their worst nightmare." Speculation about Scully (Gillian Anderson) and her baby has revolved around whether the infant has an alien heritage. Lawless, though, is unable -- or unwilling -- to say anything more about the season's first two episodes. For one thing, she hasn't seen the completed shows. For another, series creator Chris Carter and the rest of the cast and crew are "ultra-discreet," she said with a low chuckle. "It's all right by me. It was actually a pleasure to work on. I just like to play the game by their rules; it's their darned game." Lawless did provide a piece of information that might disappoint her fans: The naked body that viewers will see is that of a stand-in. They are used to being disappointed, though. Lawless continues to hear about Xena fans who were dismayed by the series finale, in which the title character was killed by decapitation. Killing off Xena was "bold," she said, "but, I must say, hanging the body in the tree was a little over-the-top." Why fans were genuinely upset "took me a long time to figure out." "I was given a clue by Sharon Delaney, who runs the conventions and things. It was about how many people out there have never been in love. This show, for them, represented for them that there really is a soul mate, and at the end we shattered that myth. "I would inwardly roll my eyes . . . but this 'soul mates' thing kept wheeling out and acting as God's truth. And we blew it away with a shotgun at the end. "We didn't realize what an impact it would have. We thought we were just putting together a television show that was a logistical nightmare to produce. There are real people who crave love and crave a life partner. To those people: I'm so sorry that they were hurt." The X-Files seemed to present an ideal transition for Lawless, who said the role came about through an accidental meeting with Carter at an Emmy ceremony, where he opened her car door. "We were absolute little nobodies," she said. "He came down from his lofty height and opened the door for us. I will always have a soft spot for him because of that. Knowing Xena had wound up, he tracked me down in Hawaii." The X-Files role, therefore, represents something that Lawless is "kind of doing for love." She threw herself into the character. "I'm really good at surrender," she said. "My strongest attribute is just giving over, to improve or whatever. Even the first few times going on Leno, I realized that crawling up into a fetal position wasn't going to do me any good. You have to just allow yourself to be fabulous." It was the usual cheesy TLC true crime docu. Toward the end of the hour they had their piece de resistance, several minutes of footage of a famous, violent robbery in Los Angeles about three years ago, in which two robbers armed with multiple automatic weapons and body armor attacked a bank. They got into a 40-minute gunfight with dozens of police, in which hundreds of shots were fired and several police and civilians were wounded (none died) before the two gunmen were killed. This was filmed by news helicopters and got heavy news coverage across the country. Xena connection? I am convinced that footage from this event was shown to the Xena and Gabrielle clones in Send in the Clones. I remember they showed a couple seconds of a man in body armor firing a machine gun from behind a car in a city. If it was the real incident, the man was killed a few minutes later. The docu will air again on TLC at 10:00 Central time this evening. The gunfight comes about 48 min. into the hour. Boeotian The tale grew in the telling. -- J.R.R. If I may make a humble request: I'm sure I'm not the only Xenite who would love to see the script for "Last Chance" (the musical that wasn't), even though it wasn't produced. I've kind of been waiting for Missy Good to post it on her site, but since she hasn't I'm hoping that's a sign of publication to come?? Maybe??>>> I think this may be all right to post this information. Missy received permission from Rob Tapert to perform a reading of the Last Chance script at Dragoncon during Labor Day weekend. A tape of the reading was made and there has been some discussion of offering the tape for sale to interested parties, with the proceeds going to charity. I have no idea where that stands as of now, but if you contacted Missy, she can undoubtedly fill you in. By the way I saw the reading and it was was wild. I can only imagine what it would have been like if Ren Pics had been able to to produce it. Suffice it to say, there would have been no doubt as to Xena and Gab's relationship. But remember, they were going to use disco music. That in itself would turn some people off. bd ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list.
