Hey, folks... Just some advance notice of two big shows that are coming up in Toronto: The (free!) annual end-of-summer show (Sept. 2nd) hosted by local radio station MIX 99.9 has grown so big that they're moving it to Sunnyside Park this year, which is bound to be crawling with teens eager to see headliner (?!) Avril Lavigne. Rounding out the pop-friendly bill are David Usher, Crush, Great Big Sea, and wonderful new rocker Sam Roberts (the only reason I'm actually even posting about this). The second show, of more interest to most on these lists, is the upcoming celebration of the re-opening of Roy Thompson Hall (it's been under renovations for the past several months) on Septmber 27th featuring an incredible bill of Canadian singer-songwriters - Bruce Cockburn, Cowboy Junkies, Chantal Kreviazuk, and Rufus Wainwright. Tickets range from $78 to $28, and are available through the Hall's website (www.roythomson.com) or box office (416-872-4255) starting on Monday. - - Tab :) _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com ------------------------------ End of canadian-music-digest V5 #19 ***********************************
