Hey, everyone... April seems to be shaping up as an amazing month for shows in Toronto. Here's a shortlist (please take note of the listing for the special 'GasCD' benefit show): - - April 4 & 5: Andy Stochansky at the Rivoli - - April 9th: Martina Sorbara CD release with the Lesters (Moxy Fruvous' Murray Foster's new jazz band) at Revival - - April 11: Martina Sorbara and the Be Good Tanyas, instore at HMV (333 Yonge), 4 pm - - April 11: The Be Good Tanyas with (funny US singer-songwriter) Erin McKeown at the Horseshoe - - April 12: Ivana Santilli with Graph Nobel and DJ Roland Deschamps at Reverb - - April 25: GasCD benefit show at the Phoenix with Chris Brown & Kate Fenner, Luther Wright and the Wrongs, most of Barenaked Ladies, Ron Sexsmith, Jason Collett, Ember Swift and more [This show is in support of Chris Brown's GasCD compilation he put out last year in benefit of the legal defense of protesters arrested at the Quebec City summit. A remarkable CD, a remarkable guy, and this show is bound to be equally excellent. I know it's too close to Sarah Slean's show for comfort, but if you can spare the time, do make an effort and attend.] [There will also be GasCD benefit shows in Ottawa, Montreal (with Sarah Harmer, you lucky Quebecois!) and NYC, with plans for further East and West-coast dates in the future.] - - April 27: Sarah Slean with Bodega (arty T.O. power-pop band, for those of you who aren't familiar with them - it's a very odd pairing, and I'm not sure *why* they were chosen to open, but they *are* actually quite good [as James will attest to ;)], so maybe it'll work) at Trinity-St.Paul's Centre - - April 30: Josh Rouse at the 'Shoe (*Incredible* American singer-songwriter. Heard of Ryan Adams? Well, this guy is *better*.) [to be confirmed] * Too many shows, too little time... ;) - - Tab :) _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx ------------------------------ End of canadian-music-digest V5 #8 **********************************
