Especially considering it -was- brought to my attention my some people here. Opening for Mr. Fox were the duo of Fegus Hambelton* and Tim Bovaconti who performed an enjoyable acoustic set on guitar and (I think) mandolin. Kevin joined them for some harmonies. I haven't heard of these guys before, however, if you get the chance to see them, go for it. I can't really remember any details about their song names or lyrics, but their style was very -- flowing, perhaps -- up-tempo and a bit catchy. For his own set, Kevin brought out a zillion friends to join him on stage. Having been a musician for as long as he has, I'm sure finding them wasn't a problem. I recognized Mark Mariash when I walked in. According to the card handed out, the musicians were: Erin Donovan (piano, vibraphone, percussion, vocals) John Adams (electronic sounds, percussion) Mark Mariash (drums, percussion) Drew Birston (double bass) Kevin Adamson (accordian, piano) Tim Bovaconti (guitars, mandolin) Karen Graves (violin) Kathleen Kajioka (viola) Camille Watts (flute) Fegus Hambelton* (clarinet) (* hey, it's spelt two different ways on the card -- hopefully one of them is right.) Ted's was reasonably full -- certainly not standing room-only, but the tables were all occupied; some guy up front got up and danced at one point. He claimed to have come from PEI. You're probably waiting for me to describe Kevin's set, and I won't, because I can't remember it. I don't really know any of his songs -- I haven't seem him perform solo in two years -- so I can't give you a setlist. But it was *veryy* good. What stood out most was Kevin's voice - -- it's fabulous, and there were several great harmony parts. The sounds was done well enough so that the instruments didn't overpower the vocals (though I can't remember any of the lyrics :). i recommend these guys if you're looking for a fun night of music.
