It's *exactly* the trend that the big record companies pursue. What happens is that they manufacture a "singer" or a "band" (using those terms very loosely) and if they take off, then the record companies immediately all jump on the bandwagon and clone the trend to death. e.g. Spice Girls --> All Saints Britney Spears --> Mandy Moore, Jessica whats-her-face ... not Weiser, ha ha Backstreet Boys --> N'Sync, 98 Degrees It's the same situation with television, too, but I'm somewhat less versed in that area.
