Joan Jones - yuck, bland folk. >> I agree, Tab, that the Toronto lineup seems to be nothing special. But I think you'll like Morley. She has one cd out -- "Sun Machine". She's kind of a dance/trance type of music, reminiscent of Mono or Hooverphonic, or others that I can't think of right now. I think I first heard Morley at a Borders listening station. She's had songs on Dawson's Creek and Felicity. Check out her website at www.morleysite.com for more information and sound clips. Joan Jones, folk? Not this one....she's the former lead singer of Sun 60. Her album is titled "Starlite Criminal," and it's on Hollywood Records. Check out her website at www.hollywoodrec.com/joanjones or Sertorious' Joan Jones / Sun60 Page to read and hear more. Trust me, Tab ;-) You know you and I have similar taste in music, right? This is the last year of Lilith.....so let's all try to think positive and be thankful for whoever *does* appear at the venues we plan to attend. (My husband was quite shocked when I told him that The Pretenders are going to be at the Cincinnati venue. They've been one of his all-time favorites!) I suppose we would all plan things differently if we were in charge of Lilith. Personally, I'm a little surprised that the Indigo Girls are back again.....seems like Sarah would try to give exposure to a greater variety of singers/bands rather than having so many of the same acts appear. I kind of like hanging out at the second and village stages.....at least you get to hear *newer* music. BTW, I think the Wild Strawberries are supposed to be in Indianapolis..... <> Ok.....I love Andrea Florian (I have both of her albums)......and Vicky Fraser (does she have more than "Firecracker"?), but who are those other three? (N.B. To Tab, I'm holding you to "with bells on", your choice of bells.) Oh Susanna - Selections from Johnstown, great, and I mean _great_ sophomore effort by Suzie, romantic country folk, great for those "spoonin'" occasions. Y'all listen, y'hear! Carolyn Mark - a little more county, 1/2 half of the Corn Sisters And the Rheos do a bit of a repeat, they are best fresh and live. Like lobster mmmmm, lobssssster... ...sorry, the Rheos paint Canada in musical brush strokes, visual pieces, as literary as and Governor-Generals award winner. Ain't *that* a scam. They turn themselves into a ridiculous "charity" so they have an excuse to book big bands and pull in the attendant big crowds for a series of "benefit" concerts. How big of them, to hold huge benefit concerts to raise money for themselves. "help the refugees, save the rainforests, save the sign..." It's quite an evilly brilliant marketing plan, really. I don't even *like* the sign, even subdued as it is. I hate to think what it will look like when restored to its original gaudy ostentatious glory. Ah well, I shouldn't complain, it means a few more good concerts in my neighbourhood. ************* I wrote the above a few days ago but I never finished it to post it. Since then, the old sign has been completely removed, and the front of the venue has been repainted! I wonder if they have enough money for a new sign yet?
