Luke was the *best* guitarist - the FTE-era band of Sarah's circa 1993-96 was absolutely sublime. He'll add a really great sound to Chantal's album. The rest of that lineup are no slouches, either - it looks like Sony has amassed the best studio musicians for Chantal's new album. Matt Chamberlain, who's worked with Tori and Fiona Apple among others, is incredible, and Kevin Killen is known for his smooth, clean mixes. I for one can't wait to hear this record. :) And if her current output is any indication, it is going to be a beautiful album - her new single, the cover tune 'Feels Like Home' from the "Dawson's Creek" soundtrack, is currently at radio now (well, at least it is here in Toronto), and it is *so* pretty. Really, really nice. [Does anyone know if this is going to be the 'single' from the DC s/t? I mean, I know the *video* single is Sixpence's "Kiss Me", but since that's *already* a huge radio hit, maybe Chantal's tune is the radio single?] - - Tab :) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 25 Apr 1999 18:16:24 PDT From: "Tabassum Siddiqui" Subject: Re: OAC: Upcoming Toronto shows - Natalie, BNL, StardustPicnic, more... I'm not a fan or anything (although her new album is quite nice), but in her defence, she had been playing for many years and had several CDs out before David E. Kelley heard her music and decided it would be right for 'Ally McBeal'. She'd been toiling in near-obscurity until the show gave her the huge exposure that brought her to the level she's at now. So I guess we can't really say she hasn't paid her dues and whatnot... >Andrea wrote: >>May 13 Mary Lou Lord - El Mocombo ...I can't wait to see her play. >>With or without the band...that is the question? > >She's fun. You know, with all this talk about that recently, I was just reminded of the (unintentionally?) hilarious blurb in their gig ad in last week's Eye - it read: "MuchMusic superstars Red Autumn Fall!" or some such ridiculousness. Speaking of new singles, has anyone else heard the new Amanda Marshall song? "Love Lifted Me", I believe it's called...? Imho, it's really good! I didn't know what to expect after the "Believe In You" song, (that I hate!). Now I have hopes of a good album. It's around midnight, so anyone else who's on-line...check out her site http://www.amandamarshall.com between 12 and 1 EST, and you can hear another track off the album to be released May 25 th in Canada and June 15 th in the US. ~Andrea! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ICQ: 10294764 AOL IM: TheAndyC http://listen.to/canadianmusic - http://listen.to/boots - http://travel.to/thecomfortzone - canadian-music@smoe.org PROUDLY CANADIAN MUSIC WEB RING http://surf.to/canadianmusic ------------------------------ End of canadian-music-digest V2 #76 ***********************************
