Yeah, I thought that too. The Mix 99.9 personalities here in Toronto seemed to have drawn a blank when Jim Cuddy was on air talking about her. She's awesome. (See my site http://home.istar.ca/~andyc/caramelindex.htm) Getting back to my point, in addition to the Toronto shows: May 5 Ben Folds Five - Guvernment May 11 Alanis Morissette (w/ Esthero and Crash Test Dummies) - Air Canada Centre ...I wish Emm was opening this show instead of the now scary CTD. May 13 Mary Lou Lord - El Mocombo ...I can't wait to see her play. With or without the band...that is the question? May 21 Ivana Santilli - The Reverb ...still have to see this woman play live! She was great on Open Mike Thursday night and on Electric "strip show" Circus earlier tonight (did she sing anything before "Doin' all the Doin'"?) Re: The Mix 99.9's Mixfest...I think those scary CTD are on the bill too :) I think b/c Emm couldn't make it to the Beachfest at the end of the summer last year, she should play again! Of course, I'd rather see her do a full set...beggars can't be choosers, I'll take all the Emmusic I can get! I recall thinking that she hadn't paid her dues yet and that she didn't deserve such a big show for her first in TO, at least in this area. I still think that (although I concede she's been playing her local area for many years). You play one stupid TV show and you can bypass all the small and medium sized clubs and charge inflated prices for tickets. For those who missed the Red Autumn Fall show there last night, for shame! Simeon is a god. RAF are going on hiatus for a while to write and record some new songs. Another El Mo show of note is the Planet Smashers next week. They're ska-riffic!. TIP: buy your tix IN ADVANCE. Take it from someone who's been turned away from two sold-out PS shows, one of them earlier this month. Tonight, By Divine Right and Scratching Post at the Ravioli should be a great show. Or if you like country at all, there's Stacey Earle (Steve's sister) at Ted's Wrecking Yard. Tomorrow night there's Tory Cassis at Say What. I'd add more to the upcoming shows list but I don't have a NOW or an EYE handy. I do recall that Bif Naked is coming up soon. They rock! There's a neat-o feel to their songwriting, they write about the strangest commonplace things, > Tonight, By Divine Right and Scratching Post at the Ravioli should be a > great show. Or if you like country at all, there's Stacey Earle (Steve's I think you'd like Scratching Post, Paul; big guitars juxtaposed with Nicole Hughes little girl voice. BTW, does anyone know what's with CFNY's sudden fascination with SP? I mean its great an all, but, I'm hearing "bloodflame" a lot and its from '96? Don't get me wrong, any airplay for one of my favourite bands is a Good Thing!
