["Tabassum Siddiqui" Subject: Sarah (and others) in March Flare... Hey, all... There's a feature story on Sarah's upcoming cookbook (the title and the cover have been changed *again* - it's now called "A Collection of Sarah McLachlan's Favorite Recipes" or something like that) in the new march issue of Flare magazine (it's a Canadian fashion mag, for our friends in the US who aren't familiar with it). There's some nice photos, a recipe from the book, and interviews with Sarah and her chef, Jaime Laurita. Actually, I'm kind of annoyed, because I had this exact idea for a story several months ago when I first heard of the cookbook, but no one I pitched it to was interested. :( Oh, well. Also in this issue of Flare are fashion spreads with two other wondeful Canadian musicians - singer/songwriter Melanie Doane and Hole bassist Melissa Auf Der Mar. And for more CanCon, Nikita (filmed right here in Trawna, wouldn'tcha know? ;-)) star Peta Wilson is the cover story. Totally great issue in all. Pleased with today's haul of brand-new *fat* magazines , Tab :) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 10 Feb 1999 14:04:09 -0500 (EST) From: James McGarry Subject: Re: Sarah (and others) in March Flare... I don't think they got the right push they needed up here, but I think their Canuck label is still trying, so... I liked the first single, "Beautiful" - reminded me of Garbage, but the rest of the album is pretty hard-edged. Tara has a great voice, though. >> Pleased with today's haul of brand-new *fat* magazines , > >Or do you mean Phat? ;-) I'm down with that!... LOL! Er, yeah, I suppose they could be phat. ;-P Speaking of which, how 'bout that "Hey, homegirl" bit on XF, hey, James? ;-) - - Tab :) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 10 Feb 1999 16:23:18 -0500 (EST) From: James McGarry Subject: Re: Sarah (and others) in March Flare... And (based on second-hand comments) some of their US gigs seemed quite successful. They did make a bit of a splash here with their Summersault gigs and their fall tour with Econoline Crush. > think their Canuck label is still trying, so... That wierd mike cut on _Beautiful_, I was never entirely sure I was comfortable with that. But good production values all round, a slick sound. Very US market. I've enjoyed their gigs but I'm not sure I'd seek them out... ...Tara does have a great voice and a way with the crowd as well, good stage presence, but that's not surprising considering her acting. > LOL! Er, yeah, I suppose they could be phat. ;-P Speaking of which, > how 'bout that "Hey, homegirl" bit on XF, hey, James? ;-) :-) :-) :-) It was Cool! Duc-man is trying to work more B-Ball into the scripts, as if the "Paper Hearts" thing wasn't enough... ...but according to a high placed source within my Order, there was a slight scene cut where in, our Sainted "homegirl" refers to the Punk as "Spook Daddy". I was disappointed it didn't make the final cut. We must not talk more of this for fear of a trouting, such is the arcane knowledge and secrets of the Order. :-) James. ========================================================================== James McGarry | jmcgarry@UoGuelph.CA - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- An artist should be fit for the best society and keep out of it. - - John Ruskin ========================================================================== ------------------------------ End of canadian-music-digest V2 #24 ***********************************
