This is one of the first times in my so far short life where i can say it has been an astounding year.... in music in life in love in experiences I dunno where to start... i guess we should start with the music.... Wild Strawberries: Quiver This is an excellent album by such a great band... who truly doesn't get as much coverage as they deserve. Aside from having such a great album... I experienced a taste of the music scene with this group. From the meager beginning of me accidentally selling merch with Roberta. To dancing on stage with them as well going with them to a couple of gig to do tech and merch work. This was an absolutely amzing experience which i can never forget. It has truly gotten me in touch with a taste of what artists go through. Emm Gryner: Public and Original Leap Year This woman has truly helped me through an extremely difficult time in my life this year when my relationship of 7 month broke down. As the media has said in the past, this woman has a way with words. Her songs truly heal your soul take away the pain inside. She has an astounding voice and she is so sweet in person.. the few times i have met her. I truly believe she will be the next big thing. Sarah McLachlan Well is there any big surprise here that she would remain a big part of my life. I fortunately got to see her in Buffalo for the Surfacing Tour and at both Toronto Liliths which were a blast. I got to meet so many wonderful people and have made some great friends. Some of my favorites from Sarah this year are the uberzone remixes of Sweet Surrender.. as well as the remix of Delerium (featuring Sarah) on the plastic volume 2 compilation. Barenaked Ladies: Stunt I have always been a fan of the Barenaked Ladies... dating back to the early 90's when they were only a local phenomenon selling their yellow indie tape at local record stores. 1998 brought a new phase into my BNL fandom. I rediscovered this band in a big way.. and got to see them do amazing performances at Horde, the Much Music Video Awards, (The Brothers Creeggan Shows), The Massey Hall Show, Tamara Williamson 3rd Christmas as well as The Humble and Fred Christmas Spectacular. This guys are amazing as I am sure most of you know... if you haven't picked them up yet.. what are you waiting for? Chantal Kreviazuk: hmmm She is quite a talented young lady... I got to see her at Lilith Fair in Toronto and as well in Waterloo... where i got to meet her. She has a wonderful voice and is an amzing pianist.... Tara Maclean: I started liking Tara in 1997 when i saw her at Lilith in Vancouver... and almost a year later i got to see her in Vancouver again for the pride day celebrations.. She has such a strong voice that rings in your head.... and she has the nicest perky breast (i know that from first hand experience) grin... she is so wonderful Jess Weiser What Can i say about this young aspiring artist that hasn't been said already. Jess you are so wonderful. It was great hanging out with you on your visit to Toronto as well as seeing you play for us at the free times cafe.... If you haven't gotten Jess's cd yet.. what are you waiting for? waiting for it to become a rare item that will cost you an arm and a leg to get. All the best of luck to you jess in 1999, can't wait to hear some new material. Hmm i know i am missing alot of artists here.... like sarah slean, Dar williams who i was introduced to, the corrs.. i love these guys.. they rock.. Natalie Merchant... she rocks..... very powerful in a dark way there is something about her... If you are from Toronto... check out Zoebliss and Planet of the Loops 2 great acts....
