Apparently the CRTC has boosted the CanCon music requirement to 35% from 30%, effective January. This is very cool. :) They interviewed a CHUM-FM suit (gee, what a surprise) who was whining about needing more quality Canadian acts. *We* know better. There are lots of quality Canadian acts, they just tend to get ignored. As the guy put it, we hear a lot of Bryan Adams, Shania Twain and Celine Dion. They also interviewed a BMI weasel who seemed a little down at the prospect on N Sync and the like getting less airplay. What a travesty!
