Yeah, I caught that. The Wild Strawberries did the same show. Speaking of Dayna, has she been like hiding in a studio, or Stratford, or something? I haven't seen her since MixFest in August, and I haven't heard her name mentioned anywhere, _and_ her web site is like fourteen years old. I still love his live work better than the CD, though Steve Ito did keep mentioning how good the CD was, and it is; it is good. I keep playing it. Like its from another era it touches on musical reference points we have, as a culture long forgotten, and Rufus manages to do this is in a gently nostalgic manner. Still, it comes down to if you have $17 in your pocket and a choice between the CD and a show. Go to the show. Really. It will change your life. Ok, no it won't, I love hyperbole. :-) But real LIVE Rufus is better. He has a _presence_. > things his own way. And now he's got his very own Gap ad, which can be > seen several times a day on MuchMusic which is more than can be said for > his wonderful, quirky "April Fools" video. ;) What a jem of a video. Its great! Quirky, strange and funky, it doesn't fit. Visually its like an ill tailored suit. And so, keeps your attention focused. There's no quick mind-reducing fraction of a second scene cuts and jumps. Its plain, and yet rich. Like an unadorned chocolate truffle. I love the Gap ad too. Its very Rufus... ...very. > - Tori's split single of "Cruel" and "Raspberry Swirl" remixes! Got it in the mail on Friday! I'm waiting for the good computer in my office this afternoon... ...mmmmm Rasberry Swirl... mmmmmm. James. P.S. Heard scaaaaads of Melanie Doane on the radio waves this weekend. Nice I'm getting to like Adam's Rib more, but Mel's Rockpile is still hands down the best song on the album. :-P IMO; YMMV; void where prohibited by law. ========================================================================== James McGarry | jmcgarry@UoGuelph.CA - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- An artist should be fit for the best society and keep out of it. - - John Ruskin ========================================================================== ------------------------------ End of canadian-music-digest V1 #152 ************************************
