And Jewel played there! Wow... ;)) Anyhow, I am *so* glad I dragged my tired self (and my sister, too ) down to C'est What last night, because Sarah was, as always, amazing. What was great about the set was seeing her play solo without the band after quite a while (for me, at least). Even better, she didn't play a single song from "Universe"! I had heard only 2 out of the 7 or 8-song set before at all! That totally made my night. :) I'll try to post the setlist later, but she started with "Empty Cup" (I think?), and even did a cover of Leonard Cohen's "Famous Blue Raincoat", much to the audience's delight. She said she was inspired by Hayden's version the other night at his show. Mark *did* join her on drums for 2 songs, and she got guitarists/artists/man-about-town Kurt Swinghammer and a bassist to join her for "Twin Moon". The infamous Kevin Fox was indeed present, but did not play, much to the chagrin of my sister and I. ;) Anyhow, it was a fantastic, ethereal, hypnotic set which was over way too quickly for my liking. ;) Sarah has *got* to be the only artist who ends a set with, "Okay, this is my last song - I'm getting fucking sick of listening to myself." LOL!! You totally got the impression she'd have come to hear Tory play whether she was opening or not. :) Confession time - no, I didn't stick around for Tory's set (I know - bad, bad Tab ;P). We couldn't, unfortunately, as it was already pretty late when Sarah ended. But luckily we can see him practically every week of the year, anyhow. ;) Hey, anyone know if he's single? My sister and I are crushing badly. Mary, you have good taste, girlfriend. ;-) Over and out, Tab :) P.S. Hey, you three guys at the table across from us last night discussing the National Post - are you on this list? Identify yourselves! ;-) P.S. 2 - On an interesting note, actress Patricia Hamilton of "Anne of Green Gables" and "Road to Avonlea" fame (she played Rachel Lynde) was in the audience last night. She seemed to be a friend of Tory's. Neat! :) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 17 Nov 1998 18:03:05 -0500 From: Steve I Subject: Re: C'est What show... An auspicious beginning, no? >Anyhow, I am *so* glad I dragged my tired self (and my sister, too ) >down to C'est What last night, because Sarah was, as always, amazing. Geez, you were there again and you *still* haven't introduced yourself to me... for shame, Tab! ;-) >Mark *did* join her on drums for 2 songs, and she got >guitarists/artists/man-about-town Kurt Swinghammer and a bassist to join >her for "Twin Moon". I got quite a charge out of seeing those two guys play with Sarah, especially Kurt who's a legend around here. >P.S. 2 - On an interesting note, actress Patricia Hamilton of "Anne of >Green Gables" and "Road to Avonlea" fame (she played Rachel Lynde) was >in the audience last night. She seemed to be a friend of Tory's. Neat! I wonder if she approved of all the newfangled clothing and drinking going on. At least there were no puffed sleeves around.
