Hey guys! Sorry for the crosspost but this seemed important to everyone :) First of all, if you're planning to see Jann and Mel in the near future you might not want to read this in case Jann uses the same jokes or whatever….but I *am* curious as to whether she does or not….. I went to see Jann Arden and Melanie Doane last nite!!!!! It was sooooooo good!!!!!! I specifically went to see Mel but Jann was an added bonus :) And I got the 3 friends who were with me to want to go out and buy Mel's new album cuz she rocked the house!!!!!! :) I can't remember exactly what she played but it was all stuff from Adam's Rib. She started with Goliath (one of my fav songs, the other being Waiting For the Tide, which she also played) and she ended with what she calls Mel's Rock Pile :) I don't know if it was the same tune as the one on the album but it was one of those fiddley traditionals and I loved it! You know when you go to a concert (eg. A Sarah concert) and everyone's such a big fan that as soon as they hear the first note of the song they know which one it is and everyone claps? Well, during Mel's set, that was me…only me :) It was pretty obvious that the rest of the audience had come to see Jann! I would've liked if she had talked more during her set…but I guess she can't really, cuz she's the opener and only has a certain amount of time….here's a list of instruments Mel played during her set: Fiddle, electric fiddle, acousitc guitar, mandolin, piano…I wanted to get up and dance but I was afraid they'd kick me out-remember this show was at the Arts Centre :) Ok…Jann….she's SOOOOO funny! :D she makes jokes about everything…her parents, the audience, lots of sexual jokes, she made some crack about her backup singer having her period…..her backup singer is sooooo cool!!! She plays guitar and drums too! In the middle of the show some guy in the front row gave Jann a flower and asked her to sign his arm :) She said "sure I'll sign your arm…I've got a f***ing show to do you know!" and then she told him to come up on stage for a picture so he climbed onto the stage! :D some other woman asked for an auto and Jann gave it to her and then she said "hey spotlight guy! Yeah you! Can you beam the spotlight into the audience? Let's have a question period…yeah, that's you up there in the booth! Do you have blue?" it was so funny :D And they did a big medly with Don't Cry For Me Argentina and I Will Survive…among other songs….she said "hmmmmm….Ottawa….what do you guys do for fun around here?" and some guy yelled out "Beer!" she also said that Ottawa was her most enthousiastic crowd or something which is prolly a bunch of crap that she says at every show…. That's bout all I can think of….Jann's a very funny person :) And Mel rocks the world as always….I had a great time! Hope the rest of you going to Mel and Jann's shows love it too!! luv Shawna =) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 14 Nov 1998 20:25:13 -0500 From: "Fumbling Andrea " Subject: Web Ring...assistance...
