Check out Page D8 in the Technology section which features an article on the Can-Indie band Psycho Key. Its an interesting read, dealing with their use of technology to put out a high quality indie recording without benefit of label help, a real studio or well much experience. Its available on line at, and Jill will smile here: http://www.indiepool.com/psychokey Take Care, James. ========================================================================== James McGarry | jmcgarry@UoGuelph.CA - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- An artist should be fit for the best society and keep out of it. - - John Ruskin ========================================================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 5 Nov 1998 15:21:32 -0500 (EST) From: James McGarry Subject: Rufus! Heya Folks, Did anyone manage to catch Rufus Wainwright on CFNY 102.1's Live in Toronto yesterday. I caught the announcement, but missed the Rufus part as I was out of radio range... ...any comments, tapes, quotes, film, feelings, impressions, etc? Thanks! Actually i missed the CFNY bit, but i did manage to see him at the Sloan show on Nov 3rd at the Palaise Royale. I remember some people thinking that Rufus wouldn't be a good opener for sloan but he held his own, the crowd slowly but surely began to take to his songs and music, he played about 45 minutes and brought out his sister i believe to sing along on a few songs, i forgot her name though. Thumbs up in my opinion :) As for sloan, i'd have to say it was one of the most enjoyable concert experiences i've had in awhile, they started out with a lot of energy and ended with even more, a totally great great show :) take care, - -Gian P.S. can't wait for the northern sounds concert Nov 21st! ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 5 Nov 1998 18:20:53 -0500 (EST) From: James McGarry Subject: Re: Rufus! I've heard mixed responses from Sloan fans on Rufus. It was a, how would I put that, courageous choice to have Rufus open for Sloan. > As for sloan, i'd have to say it was one of the most enjoyable concert > experiences i've had in awhile, they started out with a lot of energy and > ended with even more, a totally great great show :) Great! I've only seen Sloan a couple of times, once was Edenfest. They can really hold a crowd when they want to. They just really _know_ what to do on stage! > P.S. can't wait for the northern sounds concert Nov 21st! Meeee either! Should be fun! :-) I'm looking forward to hearing Jess for the first time and Rayanne again! And a much longer set from Rayanner than last time will be fabo! :-) And I'm not just sayin' this! :-) James. ========================================================================== James McGarry | jmcgarry@UoGuelph.CA - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- An artist should be fit for the best society and keep out of it. - - John Ruskin ========================================================================== ------------------------------ End of canadian-music-digest V1 #120 ************************************
