That's interesting. I thought she had good presence, but her voice isn't all that distinctive, really. Maybe because the band was pretty overpowering that night. Thanx everyone for all the info on Zoebliss sent my way, Tab :) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 Sep 1998 19:20:51 PDT From: "Tabassum Siddiqui" Subject: Re: Big Sugar I wrote, and James replied (btw, can we get some participation form the *rest* of you once in a while? ;-P): >> Big Sugar do a cover of "Possession"?! Argh! Okay, I don't know what kind of crack they were smoking, but I set my VCR to tape 'The New Music', and it turned out to be the umpteeth re-run of their 'Smokes and Booze' special (uh, no, it's not as bad as it sounds - it was actually a very interesting look at alcohol and tobacco company sponsorship of music events)! Wazzup wit dat? ;P Then again, I think The New Music doesn't start up its new season until October anyhow, so Melanie's segment will probably air then. I'm happy with their choice of new host to replace Avi Lewis (who will be sorely missed) - Byron Wong, musician and mulitmedia guy extraordinaire. He's still awfully stiff on camera, but I bet that'll change with time. >Melanie's new album, 'Adam's Rib' is in stores September 29, 1998." I cannot WAIT! I am so, so happy that her single is doing so well on the radio here. It's actually made it to the evening countdown show, which is really good for someone fairly unknown like her. I mean, I had figured Emm's "Summerlong" would've made the countdown easily based on the wonderful radio-friendly vibe of the song, but alas, it was not to be. :( - - Tab :) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ End of canadian-music-digest V1 #76 ***********************************
