Ok, well, maybe that's a little premature....but I just wanted to let you all
know that my freelance editing business has taken off like gangbusters
or wildfire or maybe a lit fuse -- you can choose your favorite analogy. ;-)
And I have FTE (the Sarah McLachlan mailing list) to thank for getting me
started in this new career! A former Fumbler (Michael Moore) is in the
publishing business and when I contacted him, he put me in touch with
one of the top editors from
BOOK-OF-THE-MONTH CLUB in New York
City. BOMC is now one of my regular clients. I read manuscripts and
write reviews and recommendations for them.
Then one day out of the blue, I received an e-mail from a West Virginia
author named Michael D. McClellan. He asked if I would review a techno-
thriller he had written and self-published. The name of the book is
In Plane View and it's a
wonderful book, especially for people who like to
read about computer hacking. If you visit the website, you can read my
FIRST PUBLISHED REVIEW!!!
On the 26th of this month, I'll be heading down to Huntington, West Virginia,
for McClellan's book signing at Renaissance Book Company. This will be our
first meeting, and he'll be giving me the first 200+ pages of his next novel
so
that I can start editing them for him. Yes, I'm excited. ;-) So if anyone
lives
near there, the book signing is from 2 - 4pm on Saturday.....details are on
Michael's website.
Then to top it all off, one of my Stepford Wife neighbors gave my name to a
local author (I didn't even know my little town *had* them!); he called me and
I'm currently editing his first novel.
Michael has offered to create a business website for me, so when it's ready
for
viewing, I'll send out the address. (Oh, but for now -- the name of my
business
is *the editor's mark*.)
Anyway, I just wanted to share that with y'all.....and if you know of anyone
who
might need the services of a hard-working nit-picking freelance editor, send
'em
my way, will ya? ;-)
