Just a quick note to mention that Emm did *not* play yesterday at Beachfest here in Toronto. :( My sister, her friend, and I got to the Beaches around noon to hear the strains of... *Dayna Manning* (??!) playing, which was confirmed the minute I laid eyes on her strumming away on the stage. Confused, I asked a girl handing out programs if Emm had cancelled, and the dunce replied, "Uh, yeah, THEY cancelled; that girl's the replacement." THEY? Uh, no. ;) Anyhow, it was nice to see Dayna and all, but I was so disappointed I'd rushed all the way down to the Beaches just to catch Emm that I didn't really pay too much attention to her set, truth be told. But she capped her set with a very nice rendition of "A Simple Plan", which I'd never heard live before. Someone mentioned that Emm wasn't there because of the Air Canada strike - - I wonder, as she was also originally scheduled to open for Rufus Wainwright here until she was replaced by Lenni Jabour just days before the show. Hmm... Got to catch the Waltons for the third time this summer, and I'm very impressed with how tight and solid they are live. Way better than on disc, and the lead and second singers' voices blend so well. They seem to put a lot of heart into their performances as well, which is always appreciated. (The guys drove *27 hours* straight from Regina to get to Toronto for Beachfest!) Didn't stick around for any more sets, but I did spend some time walking around the main street there in the Beaches, and it's a lovely area. I've only ever been down there twice before (man, Toronto is a damn big city ), for Beachfests past, but it's always nice to explore some new area of your own hometown you've never really seen before. Hope everyone had a good Labor Day, and for my fellow students back at school, I dedicate Dar Williams' "End of the Summer" to you. :) (Don't know her? Tsk! Make a point of finding out more. ;)) - - Tab :) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 9 Sep 1998 18:13:51 -0400 From: "Andrea " Subject: Re: (OAC) Emm a no-show at Beachfest...
