Superb band live. The CD smoothed them out a bit, but is still good. Dave. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 05 Sep 1998 13:43:51 -0400 From: "Gian.C." Subject: Yesterday's Emm Show (Hamilton) Hi everyone, lotsa cross-posting happening here. Yesterday's Emm Gryner performance at La Luna in Hamilton was something to behold, even though it was a short 6-7 song set it was one of her best (then again, most are her best:P) Lets see, she played: (in no particular order) Phonecall 45 This Mad (a capella) Summerlong Acid A new song which i forgot the name to, she wrote it before the show started :) Her Paul Wellar cover, You Do Something To Me (i think that's the name) and she came out for an encore to do 89 Days Of Alcatraz, which was excellent :) and she might have played another, i'm not good with set lists :P The crowd absolutely loved her, and they wouldn't stop clapping until she played her encore, needless to say, she was pleasantly surprised. Some of her family were there to cheer her on, including her parents and brother. The place was packed for Emm's performance, but it got uncomfortably packed when Rufus Wainwright came on to play, it felt like being in a pack of sardines, But Rufus was worth it, his performance was great, different, unique, entertaining all at the same time, even with some technical difficulties he carried on and gave the crowd a good laugh. I pity the fools who missed this show :) that's all from me, take care, - -G

If you don't know what to buy, just ask me..... or Gregg Terrence or Fish, both of whom actually work there and are cooler than words can say. I'm sure people know who he is, but wouldn't you think 54-40 or even the Philosopher Kings would draw more of a crowd? I'm not saying Canadians don't know and love Colin...but why him!?! How many people do you think turned down the Mix before they asked him? Sorry to the Colin James fans out there... Oh and the Waltons are playing in the 1 pm slot after Emm Gryner, before 54-40 Can anyone tell me the lineup from last year? ~Andrea! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ICQ: 10294764 AOL IM: TheAndyC "So I keep walking so I keep walking singing sometimes Feeling like a shit 'cause I know what's happening Investing like a rich girl, gambling like a Vegas idiot Putting out where I haven't much before" - -Emm Gryner ------------------------------ End of canadian-music-digest V1 #65 ***********************************
