I was down at the Toronto Street Festival on Saturday...such a crazy day...anyway, I went down specifically to see Dayna and hopefully catch the Wild Strawberries too... DAYNA started at 4:30 and the Strawbs at 6:30 with the Immigrants in the middle...[nothing against them, but we had dinner while they played] When Dayna started playing, it had just stopped raining and there were very, very few people there. I felt bad for her b/c she deserved a much better audience, oh well... Here's what she played, in no particular order: Half The Man My Addiction Under The Hill And That Was Done My Kind A Walk On The Moon I Want Simple Plan I was dissapointed b/c she didn't play 'Hippy Song'...I know it's a little strange, but it's one of my favourites off the album. Stand outs of the show for me were 'My Kind', but how can you not love that song? and 'Simple Plan' which I thought was a great closing. Dayna was nice enough to chat and sign autographs/photos, etc. with people after her set, [hopefully my photos w/ her will turn out, as those on Believers will know, I have the worst luck w/ this stuff] The coolest part was that she actually remembered me...not only my face but the stuff I gave her [I was helping out Artists Against Racism @ Canadian Music Week and gave her some info] Dayna's wicked and prolly the nicest 'celebrity' I've met next to Todd Kerns. Anyway, for those in the Toronto area, she said that she wasn't so sure if she was going to play August 15th b/c of Lilith and all...Ya know what I say? Put her on the Aug 16 bill and we'll all be happy eh? WILD STRAWBERRIES were great...I do like them, but I haven't been able to scrouge up enough cash to buy "Quiver" yet, so this "review" or whatever you'd like to call it wont be too great as I only knew 4 or 5 of the songs they played. It didn't really matter tho, I really, really enjoyed the show. This time around, the sky had cleared up and the puddles in the seats dried up so there were hundreds of people watching/listening...I just wish more people were boggying and stuff...I didn't manage to get seats so I was standing...I guess that's it! So did anyone else catch either/both of these performances? ~Andrea! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ PROUDLY CANADIAN MUSIC: http://home.istar.ca/~andyc/proudlycanadian.htm BOOTLEGS BABY: http://members.tripod.com/~andycanada/boots.htm ***Please send all trade related e-mails to: andycanada@yahoo.com ICQ: 10294764 AOL IM: TheAndyC Join #canadianmusic on the Undernet!!!!!!! ------------------------------ End of canadian-music-digest V1 #10 ***********************************
