I would like to thank one and all who made it out to the Stone Garden show - the customized advance copies of the new CD were distributed and I anxiously await the final grade. Let me know what you think - for better or worse, I do love your words.... Feb 1 9pm The Dolphin Striker, Portsmouth, NH 603-431-5222 As always, my fave place to rave .... Feb 2 9pm All Asia Cafe, Cambridge, MA 617-497-1544 Located on Mass Ave about two blocks from Central Square towards MIT ... on the right. A homey little bistro looking to turn some coin with folk music on Saturday nights. I give this joint the traditional 6 month half-life unless folks start making the scene. Hope you can fit this rather "rare" JC Canterbridgean appearance into the busy schedule. Feb 9 9pm The Sitting Bull Pub Maynard, MA 978-897-4663 This is something to look forward to - I'll be playing with two of my favorite fellow muso's - Sal Baglio & Al Halliday - aka "Three Chairs & an Ashtray" Feb 10 6pm Gritty McDuff's, Portland, ME 207-772-2739 Still, after so many years, the coolest joint in this town.. Feb 16 8pm The Burlington Coffeehouse Burlington, VT 802-864-5888 I greatly enjoyed the hospitality of the esteemed Jeff Miller this past October and now I'm back for a Show Of My Own! Yeehaa - let's slam the place! This joint is a bit tough to find - the address is 186 College Street - upstairs in an office building with a "sandwich sign" out front in the street -- DON'T GIVE UP - It's really there! Reservations/Info: 802-864-5888 If You've Read This Far Dept. ... here I go a'ramblin on ... I thought that I would wait until the State Of The Union to put this out in the hope of harvesting some deep or witty fodder for this missive's postscript, but I failed to find myself foundering amidst any eddies of inspiration. That's not to say that I felt the usual laundry list of honorable intents and prognostication disheartening - I am, after all, an eternal optimist. The events of the past months, and their portents therein, are hints of an overall improved future, given the status quo of the recent past. My personal feelings, of course .. I did have a few favorite moments. One would find it hard not to be endeared by (interim leader of liberated Afghanistan) Hamid Karzai's humble and pleasant demeanor in receipt of the ovation following his introduction. And just imagine Afghanistan with a Minister of Women's Affair's! That's good stuff. I was also tickled to catch a glimpse of Jimmy Hoffa Jr - I didn't even know there was a Jimmy Hoffa Jr, let alone that he was carrying on the family legacy as President of the Teamsters. One can only wonder what it must be like to grow up knowing that the whereabouts of your father was one of the greatest unsolved mysteries of modern times... (Henry Hill says he's buried beneath Rockefeller Plaza, and that's good enough for me. ) Another favorite was FreedomCorp and SeniorCorp - these seem to be honorable organizations designed to implement the true mission of democracy, and I really hope that's what they turn out to be. And lastly, the line: "Knowledge gained from bio-terrorism research will improve public health... " Sakes Alive! The Phoenix hath risen from of the ashes ...? . There is hope still ...
