A delightful homebound weekend at Patrick's this past ... something about a bunch of nice people hanging out that just makes me wanna play! Must be the "throwback to the old family hootenannies" feeling that comes out in me at this joint - mad e some new friends, peddled some wares, and had an overall good time - is it over already? Welcome to all my new friends! GIGS THIS WEEK Thursday, August 5 NOON The ArtStreet Festival City Hall Plaza Boaston, MA mailto:ArtStreet@aol.com I participated in this event last year and am proud to return. This is a nicely low-key presentation - a panolply of performers staged throughout the city of Boston every Monday-Thursday - Noontime - in August. I'll be peddling my wares Thusday along w/ my comrade Michael Carerras. If they set us up in the same spot as last year, the acoustics are prime! A great way to stre-e-etch the lunch hour out, and a good reason to give the "T" another try... ... and later that night I scoop up my "co-producer" Mr. Jay Williston and breeze off to THE STEAK LOFT Thursday night, August 5, 7pm Mystic, CT 860-536-2661 the infamous seaside bistro ... where I'll be "recording live" once again. This time we'll attempt to capture the low-key atmosphere - that "sit in the corner and spin some tales" ambience so prevalent at many of my shows. Very quiet and intimate ... should be fruitful. Friday, August 6 9PM The Pub Outback East Burke, VT 802-626-1188 Worlds away, this, another "joint" ... folks hang, I play - cool as a cuke! Saturday, August 7 9PM Murphy's Newbury, NH 603-763-3113 Smooth goings at this, my regular "first Saturday of every month until y2k" gig. I make a new friend every time I visit this place. Tuesday, August 10 8:30PM The Black Brimmer Manchester, NH 603-669-5523 If I could scare Mr. J up for a Tuesday night hang, I'd surely be recording at this place - easily one of the most eloquent of venues. They tell me that on weekends this place is a no-brainer - I've never been - but on Tuesdays it is a perfect delightful room for which to proffer up my goods 'n services. Majestically high ceilings, dark oak woodwork and historic eloquence abounds, not to mention a nice central stage and great folks at hand... Friday, August 13 9pm THE KENDALL CAFE Cambridge, MA 617-661-0993 RECORDING LIVE - come out and make this show another one for the books. Always a good experience here - those who know, know - those who don't, well, come find out! I'll also be performing on electric guitar w/ my pals "Al Halliday & the Griffins" at 11pm. Saturday, August 14 noon-5 THE BEST OF BOSTON SONWRITER'S SHOWCASE Hopkington State Park for info: mailto:DCent@aol.com As I could not make the rescheduled "rain date" of the last Showcase, I will be performing at this, the final presentation of a fine yearly event. A TON of great folks on the bill - I play at around 5pm. MORE LIVE RECORDING DATES: Friday, August 13th - THE KENDALL CAFE, Cambridge, MA A 9pm solo set followed by an 11pm set w/ Al Halliday & the Griffins Thursday, September 16th - Horsefeather's, North Conway, NH A final attempt to capture the low-key vibe - a very relaxing atmosphere with just a touch of austerity - sounds like a menu item... Thursday, October 14th - CLUB PASSIM, Cambridge, MA http://www.clubpassim.com This will be a one stop deal between west coast and midwest tours. Friday, November 5th - THE GREY GOOSE, Londonderry, NH I'll be making some promotional visits to this awesome venue in preparation for this big show. The last recorded performance before the Live Release by Xmas '99. THAT'S THE HAPS Wanna Buy A CD? JOEL CAGE: Last Hard Road & JOEL CAGE: Nobody are available for your purchase.
