This is my 1st Cagehead e-mail. Admittedly, I'm a relatively ignorant internet user, so I'm not sure what to do or where this is going. But here goes. It's a little late to post feedback on last week's Passim show, but, hell, it was so good, it could be talked about for a long time. I've been following Joel fairly diligently since the Summer of 97 when I discovered him at Horsefeathers in North Conway with my wife and sister. I was blown away by the massive talent on that humble stage. Joel was playing with such intensity and such guitar mastery (as I've gotten used to, but never tired of!), that he held my attention and wouldn't let go until the show was over. We introduced ourselves, signed The Book (which I sure hope he finds), and became instant Cageheads. Thursday's show was incredible. Every song was played flawlessly. I just sat there and soaked up every note. I tried to act as subdued and erudite as the bulk of the audience, but found it hard. A ton of those tunes deserved the big Standing O -- I sure hope Joel was pleased with the Sitting O anyway! By the way, if you haven't checked out Joel's Web page, do it! All the lyrics are posted, and now we can confidently sing along with the CD's. Especially in "Carny." Man, I didn't have a snowball's chance in Hell to guess those lyrics, even after Joel did a partial translation for me.
