Hope you all enjoy it. Take care. William :) - ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was the kind of night that concert-goers live for - a show where everything worked. Everything. An inspired singer, wonderously tight musicianship, an attentive and appreciative audience - it all added up to a magical performance by Lauren that will serve as a benchmark for all of her future performances. There's no tangible reason as to why it happened this particular night. Sure, you can say a show had X, Y and Z elements and say that's why it was great. But such laundry lists never do this kind of show justice because ultimately, it's about the way everyone in the room felt at that moment. It's about knowing that you've seen something special and being glad you were there to witness it. That feeling doesn't happen very often, but when it does, you know it. And everyone in attendence at Luna Park knew it. Simply put, it was the best show Lauren has put on this year. Why? Who knows? All that matters is that everything clicked. What exactly clicked? Well, the obvious things first. The musical interplay between herself and guitar maestros Corky James and Gary Clark was sizzling. For the first time since they've been playing together, they played as a cohesive unit and not like three separate musicians who happened to be sharing the same stage. Moreover, never had Lauren seemed more focused and confident than she did this night. In contrast to her previous shows, which were marked by a warm informality, she performed as if on a mission to prove what we already know - that she deserves a great deal of the public's attention. With performances like this, she'll likely get it. Nor had she ever looked more ravishing, wearing a skin-tight black lycra top and leather pants. While they weren't revealing per se, they certainly left little to one's imagination. But none of these things really explain why the show was so successful. What does is something much more subtle, but far more important, and that is that she exhibited the one quality you can't teach: star power. The Christy faithful already know it, but tonight more than any other night this year, she showed that she has that extra "something" that puts her above the rest of the pack. She came out to make her case for stardom, and she did it in grand style. Simply awesome stuff. Let's do it again real soon. William Here was the setlist: 1. Lullaby 2. Killing Sammy 3. Sugar Snow 4. Perfect Again 5. Who You Become 6. Burn 7. Breed 8. I Want What I Want The setlist was shorter than usual because Gary Clark was scheduled to play an acoustic set right after Lauren, so in order to allow Gary enough time to play, she shortened her set. Song #2, "Killing Sammy," is new - Lauren said she wrote it "over the weekend." Songs 1-5 were with Lauren and Corky. Songs 6-8 were with Lauren, Corky and Gary. ------------------------------ End of breed-digest V2 #18 **************************
