We have some great articles to check out: Read on - or I'll just tell you in person at the party tomorrow night. love, brenda Gifts for Rock Stars By Corralee Booth http://www.womanrock.com/music_resources/music_resources_1201.html Perhaps your drummer already has a tattoo, and maybe doesn't want another one. So you may have to settle for a piercing of some sort. A thoughtful little item for a drummer that they might not always think about is hockey tape. Wrists can get sore if not taped during long rehearsals over three or four hours and sometimes they use it for grips on drum sticks too. (note: never use duct tape on your drummer, it bonds with human flesh) Says LE TIGRE (Now I know way Kathleen Hanna was called the Riotgrrrl Grrrl) http://www.womanrock.com/features.html (Kathleen Hanna) "When I was involved with one of the original groups in DC in the 1990s, one of things we did was refuse to have one sound bite that we gave to the media, ... Each woman who entered was asked to define it for herself so all these lists were proliferating around the scene which were "riot grrrl is". the whole idea is that women and girls could define what it meant and that there are a million different ways to be feminist or womanist or to be pro-woman or anti-misogyny ...We didn't want to be a corporation with a mission statement. I think that was an interesting strategy. People are still defining it for themselves." Music Business Editorial (I finally put some of these thoughts down on paper - let me know what you think - brenda@womanrock.com) by Brenda Kahn http://www.womanrock.com/features/music_business_editorial.html The business of rock-n-roll is a sketchy deal no matter how you play it. Business by nature is about branding a product, marketing an idea, and building a foundation of support. Music on the other hand is about the beauty of the moment. As you watch a band play or a singer sing, the moment you experience is already a memory. And catching that moment on disc is only a way to make your heart and mind remember that as we are living the present we are building the past.
