(Proceeds from the event will go to the New York City Central Labor Council Disaster Relief Fund.) The program features the revved up folk of womanrock.com founder and Lillith Fair veteran BRENDA KAHN. MUGSY Recording artist, post-punk workin' man folksinger KIRK KELLY and Violent Femmes bassist BRIAN RITCHIE team up for some contemporary interpretations of Irish and American folk standards with their new combo PADDY on the RAILWAY. Also from the MUGSY Records roster, MIKE RIMBAUD reunites with his former band The SUBWAY SUN for edgy alternative the ALL MUSIC GUIDE describes as "stripped down and direct." Spoken word artist John S. Hall imparts his unique tales of life and love while WHITE COLLAR CRIME delivers melodic punk and progressive politics, fronted by Soft Skull Press CEO founder Sander Hicks. The event is one of many actions throughout the country and the world planned to coincide with this weekends WTO meetings in Qatar. Event organizers stress the importance of keeping the struggle for workplace democracy from becoming another victim of the vicious and senseless attack on the World Trade Center, while continuing to help in the relief efforts. LUNA LOUNGE is located at 171 Ludlow St, just south of Houston St. in New York City. Showtime is 8:30pm.
