["SHELLYE" Subject: Do Brenda Kahn Fans Actually Listen To These Artists? (fwd) From the CD Universe list, I listen to Sheryl Crow, Ani DiFranco, Sarah mcLachlan, Juliana Hatfield, and Shawn Colvin, but not really any of the others. Personally, Brenda Kahn is more similar to such artists as Melissa Ferrick and Dan Bern. All three have that punk/folk thing going, along with Ani. > At CD Universe, they said that people who buy Brenda Kahn also tend to buy > these artists: > > Tim Buckley • Bush • Sheryl Crow • Ani > DiFranco > X (American) • Brian Eno • Freakwater • Helium > Sarah McLachlan • Tripping Daisy • Luka Bloom > Tracy Bonham • The Breeders • Shawn Colvin > Fairport Convention • The Feelies • Juliana > Hatfield > Joan Jett & The Blackhearts • L7 • Liz Phair > Sleater-Kinney > > Anyone on the list you like, too? > > ========================================== > Thought of the Day: > REAL HEADLINES: Experts Say School Bus Passengers Should Be Belted > > > - -- Mark A. When I am in the presence of other human beings I want to revel in their creative and intellectual fullness, their uninhibited social warmth. I want their precious human radiance to wrap me in light... Everything I would like other people to be for me, I want to be for them." -- Alice Walker ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 02 Jun 1998 11:31:57 -0400 From: chuck mongiovi Subject: Re: Do Brenda Kahn Fans Actually Listen To These Artists? is this a survey? .. tim buckley .. never listened to but should bush .. never listened to sheryl crow .. have the first album, listen to it sometimes ani .. love her and have all her albums (there's 10 or 11 of them) x (american) .. never listened to Brian Eno .. never listened to Freakwater .. never listened to Helium .. never listened to Sarah McLachlan .. love her Tripping Daisy .. heard some stuff from friends, but don't have anything by them Luka Bloom .. love him Tracy Bonham .. have her album, listen to it sometimes The Breeders .. love them, and kelly deal 6000 too Shawn Colvin .. don't listen to her as much as i should Fairport Convention .. hear them, like them, seen them live, don't own anything of theirs The Feelies .. never listened to, but have a feeling i should Juliana Hatfield .. have lots of blake babies stuff & her 1st album Joan Jett & The Blackhearts .. love her L7 .. love 'em Liz Phair .. loved her 1st album, listen to it sometimes Sleater-Kinney .. never listened to ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 2 Jun 1998 19:11:29 -0400 From: "SHELLYE" Subject: Re: Do Brenda Kahn Fans Actually Listen To These Artists? Tim Buckley • Ani DiFranco • Juliana Hatfield • Liz Phair Tim was a wild, experimental singer, though I prefer the son who was too often unfairly compared to him. Jeff was far more natural and in control of his voice. Ani DiFranco is the most accomplished female folk-singer/guitarist I've ever heard, not only in terms of her technical ability on the instrument, but in the diversity and power of her songs. Juliana Hatfield writes pretty pop tunes, and Liz Phair wrote one of the most perfectly confessional and technically realistic albums in "Exile in Guyville." So that's me. - -dennis ------------------------------ End of bklist-digest V2 #26 ***************************
