For those who haven't heard "Grout", let's just say that it has nice transitions. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 10 Oct 1997 22:15:19 -0400 (EDT) From: DelphiBlue@aol.com Subject: Re: Brenda Kahn's "Grout" Available PS: I once questioned Brenda on the issue of her music being termed "anti-folk". She said she doesn't believe in using hyphenated words to define herself, and would never want to call her music anti anything. - -dennis ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 10 Oct 1997 22:13:01 -0400 (EDT) From: DelphiBlue@aol.com Subject: Re: Brenda Kahn's "Grout" Available This says "rock/punk", but to the best of my knowledge the "Antihoot" is a collection of "anti-folk" musicians. Anti-folk can be looked at as the offspring of folk and punk. infusing the energy of punk with the roots of folk, and abandoning the wimpy cry-baby leanings of most modern folk. The anti-folk scene is, I guess, based in the village, but it's apparently growing in the Philly area, too. A local anti-folk hero once told me that Beck is the most commercially successful anti-folk singer . . . but he's from L.A., isn't he? - -dennis In a message dated 97-10-10 17:33:51 EDT, gwong@istar.ca writes: << "Lach's Antihoot: Live at the Sidewalk Cafe" (1996) is available at www.cdnow.com for $14.99.
