Because of the words, images, sights and sounds you painted for us, those of us who couldn't be there can at least imagine and dream about how divine and incredible it must have been! Just for the record, my posting on facebook might have been one that sounded snide, but it was not intended that way. I know for myself and probably for all the other smart alecks, it was really just a way to be playful with Susan, who has the ultimate quick wit and an often playful and kooky take on things. I'm also sure, like myself, any of us would have given our eye-teeth to be there in person! What you described is a once-in-a-lifetime experience--so exquisite it probably leaves you wondering if it really happened! You'll probably never feel the same way about any of those songs or even that room, again. Count your blessings--I envy your amazing musical/emotional/artistic experience. Regarding Susan's amazing gifts--her musicianship and performance chops, and arranging and conducting, and her ability to include everyone in the journey of the music and the fun, oh yeah, and that other thing she does now and then--write songs--you really captured how mind-boggling it is that all of these gifts are all rolled up in the same person! There aren't really words to summarize what she does that don't sound inadequate or cliched--but you took the time to describe and to show what your experience was like, and believe me, it's all the more humbling to hear about your experience and that of the other people there. As a former smart aleck, I just want to thank you for the time you spent giving this divine concert it's full due in print, and all I can say is: you lucky DOG!
