This is my favorite day of the year. As a Christian, it's a day when I am revived and reminded. As a choir member, it's a day when we get to shine and pull out all the stops. As a Roches fan, it's when I'll know that our 'Hallelujah Chorus' will pale in comparison to the one they did at the Ark on 3/29. ;-) As a Susan Werner fan, it's when I will chuckle to myself when they get to the part about St. Tom, the grooviest apostle of all. Susan's been talking about that Health Spa for quite some time. I have only been to Rockford once, in 2001, but as I recall, she was intrigued by that place even then. Glad to hear she finally checked it out. She did 'La Vie En Rose' then, too - what, she can only do that song in Illinois?? No-sir-ee Suzie T! She does it in Massachusetts too!!! We saw her do it the first time at the Bull Run in Shirley in 1999 (and I think this was so early in our Susan Awareness that we didn't even know of the song yet) She did it after someone in the audience shouted "Do the French one". What a surprise that was. And she was like - RIGHT THERE (probably about 8 feet from us over to our right). Then - about a year or two later, at the Circle of Friends in Franklin, when it was still in the basement with the bowling alley. This time, unprompted by the audience, she unplugged, walked over to stage left, stood 3 feet in front of us and 2 feet above and belted it out once again. It's amazing enough hearing on CD, moreso seeing live, but being so unbelievably close twice in one lifetime? What are the chances of that? This may have been discussed back when the film came out, and it didn't register with me then; but I saw it today for the first time, since we were given the DVD at an Easter Egg hunt yesterday (it's sort of a modern-day story that parallels the religious Easter story). Anyway, to explain why this relates to the Believer's List, the story centers around a train and a drawbridge ("most" is Czech for "bridge") and on the train you can hear "La Vie en Rose" playing in the background. I was so excited -- it's rare to hear that song except at a SW concert these days. By the way, I highly recommend the film if you haven't seen it. It's very moving. Happy Easter everyone!
