Three are brand new to me: - - Help Somebody - -Forgiveness - -Lost My Religion They do sound great. First impression is that the new CD will have a "Gospel" sound. I feel kinda dumb - cause she's calling the album "The Gospel Truth" - - so why should I be surprised that it has a "Gospel" sound - but this is just not what I was expecting from Susan Werner. As it happens, I like Gospel - even very traditional Gospel - in small doses. Paul Simon has done some great stuff with that Gospel sound. Even Springsteen. Last time I saw Bruce Springsteen live he preached a sermon right in the middle of the show - about the redemptive power of rock and roll ( you had to be there I think ). I also like the cover of the new CD ( I guess that's the cover ). Do you think some record store people ( if the are any record stores anymore ) will file it in the wrong place? Instead of "folk", I'm gonna find myself searching through "Gospel" or "Religious"? Wow. There's a first time for everything I suppose. It's fun to get a sneak preview of the sound of the new CD. bye.. Bob Paterson ps - Also props to Meredith for her additions to my notes on the Susan concert in Greenwich. It was especially helpful to learn that Trina Hamlin and Colleen Sexton are both singer-songwriters with their own careers. I was wondering where they came from and what the deal was. I will have to try and catch them by themselves. I especially enjoyed Trina's harmonica. Never seen a woman do the "Dylan" harmonica around the neck - play guitar - and sing thing.
