Why did I not open my email since last Thursday? I missed the news about NY shows, but I saw "Wicked" at the Gershwin last Tuesday. "Werner! Get to the Gershwin if you read this! The musical is great! Like thou!" Yes Lord, the election is on Tuesday. www.frankadamsweb.net www.myspace.com/frankadamsnj Frank ____________________________________________________________________________________ Low, Low, Low Rates! Thank you for your wonderful review of The Cutting Room show. Baby - The New York Times ain't got nothing on you. I especially enjoyed your details about the banjo and Susan standing on a monitor, and Jane telling Susan to put her shirt on. Who else has noticed that Jane serves partly as Susan's road manager - partly as a very good guitar tech - and partly as " surrogate Mom ". I actually once personally heard Jane yell at Susan - " Susan - Have you had something to eat? You do not get to skip dinner. You get down here right now young lady - it's dinner time! " Really. Happened at "Music at the Mission". West Milford, New Jersey. ( Go see Roger McGuinn there next year - February I think. Google it. A small room for McGuinn. ) Well... I been posting a lot. So I won't go on. Susan did not do the beautiful mysterious piano song about death huh? I have a cool website for those who are not all that damn familiar with "La Vie En Rose": _http://solosong.net/rose.html_ (http://solosong.net/rose.html) A voice ( I'm pretty sure it's actually THE Edith Piaf ) will sing the song in English no less. But IE 7 requires that you grant the ActiveX thingy permission to do whatever the hell it is it does. ( I said OK - I like to live on the edge ). PS - please do not "rat out" whoever runs that website to the RIAA . ( Now I won't be getting that nifty new merit badge). Someone who speaks French could clue us all in.... for starters - what's the name of the song? The Life of the Rose? The Days of Wine and Roses? Give your heart and soul to me and life will always be... La Vie En Rose I think I get it... but maybe not. A love song? Or a song about heart transplant surgery? ( wow .. even for me ... that's just awful ). Damn... I bet this sounded great. Damn. I had to "suffer" thru Red Molly and Jonathan Edwards. Damn. ( Both were great by the way - but not Susan). Not yet able to be in two places at once. I'm a human - not an electron. Hope top hear about the Long Island show. Too far - and I was too tired from too many leaves. see ya... Bob P. As someone who is now a tour manager for a living (and learned everything she knows about the art from The Famous Jane herself), I can say with 100% surety that being surrogate mom is a major part of the job description. You're responsible for making the travel plans; getting the artist/band where they need to go safely and on time (and doing it in a MINIVAN, no less); making sure the venue is going to provide everything they've said they're going to in the contract; handling the money matters; and, yes, making sure your charges eat. (This last isn't as easy as one might think, especially when you're in the Midwest where all there is to eat alongside the highway is fried cheese curds, Butterburgers, and other nasty concoctions that no self-respecting singer would want to put in her body mere hours before giving a performance. After only about two weeks on the road I understood completely why Dar put her "Tofu Tollbooth" directory together. We've been discussing making our own version, "Soy Chai Lattes Across America".) Signing off with my work .sig b/c it's apropos... - -- ====================== Meredith Tarr Tour Manager MPress Records www.mpressrecords.com www.rachaelsage.com HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ End of believers-digest V10 #71 ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------- -------------------------- This has been a posting from the Susan Werner believers-digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe believers-digest" in the body of the message
