The sun finally came out at the end of Susan's main stage set yesterday, yay!! Susan was her usual stellar self over the weekend. During the Friday Night Song Swap she was the best songwriter and musician on the stage, which considering that she was sharing it with John Gorka, Christine Lavin and Cheryl Wheeler does indeed say something. Alas I missed her in the "Land Of The Free" workshop yesterday b/c it was at 10am and I wasn't ready to face the world yet ... but I heard she did a couple brand-new songs, one of whom name-checked Ned Lamont from my home state of CT so I'm sad I missed that. I had been expecting her main stage set to be mostly new stuff, but she didn't do a single unrecorded song save for "My Strange Nation" (which naturally had the hill on its feet by the end). She did pull out "Shade of Grey" and "Standing In My Own Way", though. (During that last I half expected the bagpiper from Taxi Chain to appear onstage for the end, but that wasn't meant to be I guess. Missed opportunity there, for sure. ;) As usual I heard lots of people over the weekend talking about how great Susan Werner is, and I think she got some new fans. She was selling CDs of the recording of "My Strange Nation" that's been on her web site, btw. I hope they sold well. - -- =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== hear at the HOMe House Concert Series http://hom.smoe.org =============================================== HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 24 Jul 2006 18:42:09 +0000 From: circlefolk@comcast.net Subject: Re: Falcon Ridge Shoulda dragged yourself out of bed Meth :-) The other part of the Ned Lamont sequence was, and this is paraphrased, "tired old Joe Lieberman, kissing Dick....(nice long pause)....... Cheney's" whatever. I'll try and get some pictures posted by the end of the week. Hi everyone, I'm just kicking some ideas around... is there anybody in Detroit who's planning on seeing Susan at the Flint festival on Saturday? I'm thinking of flying in for the day, then flying out again the next morning, but if I could get a ride with somebody it would save me having to rent a car... - -sherlyn - -- Sherlyn Koo | sherlyn@pixelopolis.com | Sydney, Australia HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 24 Jul 2006 21:13:10 -0400 From: "Sharon G" Subject: friday song swap & susan sings the blues i left falcon ridge on saturday so i can only report on the song swap and susan sings the blues the song swap was the best i had seen in years.... There have been some real trainwrecks but susan, John Gorka ( who didnt sing any silly songs) and Christine Lavin and Cheryl wheeler were excellent.....except the potato song and that the mics were off so there wasnt alot of harmonies between these friends and susan.... suzie captured it when she remarked she felt like she was at the kids table and just was served champagne.... let me report SW held her own and more....meaning dazzled them.. John played along with susan and she was the tuning music on the piano.... there was a round of anti bush songs.... she followed john's arm with a broken heart with stay on your side of town.... she sang barbed wire boys and time between trains and the Our father who art in heaven song... i am sure someone has the full set list.. I watched Christine and Cheryl watch susan with amazement.... they were in the round with her at the ARK with Dar....and susan dazzled them.. Christine seemed to know Time between trains..... and mouthed along.... Cheryl was taken back by the force we know as susan werner.... saturday, she was with Mia dyson, vickee true, tracey grammer, sonia and cindy and kim Tyum..... susan sang a song i didnt know ...... then i cant stop loving you at the piano... again she knocked the artists out and us... she used the house band and asked jim henry to join her on guitar solo during her song.....Susan is one of the most generous of the performers and once again earned her place at falcon ridge.... keep her coming....... - -- This year April had a blizzard Just to show she did not care And the new dead leaves They made the trees look like children with gray hair But I'll push myself up through the dirt And shake my petals free I'm resolved to being born And so resigned to bravery _dar williams ___________________ "sage advisor, does weary mean wiser?" dar williams HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ End of believers-digest V10 #51 ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------- -------------------------- This has been a posting from the Susan Werner believers-digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe believers-digest" in the body of the message
