She said she loved the album so much - and we had to listen to it so that we could also love Susan's music. She felt we were becoming far too addicted to her (especially me - and I guess it was starting to creep her out) and told us we had to broaden our horizons. Alas we were joined with TBT, and that's all it took. I quickly started buying up all that Susan had produced, a pursuit that came to an abrupt halt far too quickly (there were only three other albums at the time). We will be trekking from New Hampshire to Michigan in July to visit with a dear friend (Hi Suzie) and see Christine and Susan in concert together at the Ark! Life is good. I can't believe I missed most of the "first Susan" thread. . . I guess that's what happens when one runs away from hot, muggy St. Louis for a few days. :-) Anyway, the first song I ever heard Susan sing was some stereotypical wedding song, way back in Philadelphia in the early '90s. No, I don't remember what it was -- I don't even remember the bride and groom anymore. I did remember Susan's first name and her face, and was delighted to "rediscover" her many years later, when a friend dragged me to a show here in St. Louis. As for those Believers who want to play Susan songs. . . I recently realized that I've been throwing at least one Susan-cover into each set, and since I don't like to play the same set twice, that kind of adds up. Also, I've been known to assign guitar students either "Barbed Wire Boys" or "I'm Not Sure" (what a mean guitar teacher! Just mean!!). Most of what I play is fingerstyle jazz or big band with a vocalist, but I can write out just the chords and melody for those wanting to play & sing in the folkie style. (I think I've already got Snow White worked out... I'll check). Please email me off list at GMLerch@yahoo.com if you're interested.
