Worth show [PBacoustic@aol.com] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Mon, 2 May 2005 12:13:41 EDT From: PBacoustic@aol.com Subject: Ft. Worth show The Saturday night SW show at Jefferson Freedom was a good one, as expected. The hall wasn't sold out, disappointingly, but it was still a good crowd. Beth Wood opened up, playing some good tunes with a lot of fret/chording dexterity... she also talked about singing the national anthem the next day for the Texas Rangers -- and the audience persuaded her to do a practice run! So, there we were, all standing, singing the Star Spangled Banner, with Beth leading us... hilarious... and of course, she also talked about considering messing up or falling down, to get on the Today Show.... She also talked about how she got introduced to Chris Jenkins guitars -- "this guy emailed me, and asked me if I wanted to come up to his place to see his guitars...." Which got a good laugh, especially from Chris, who was there.... Susan did a wonderful piano/guitar session, mixing the new and the old... and I love it when she changes an originally-piano piece to guitar, or vice versa, and she did it a couple times. In the middle of the set, she told a similar story about how SHE met Chris Jenkins ("This guy emailed me, and asked if I would come over to see his guitars..." Chris shouted out "Liar!" -- to huge laughter....) After I prompted her, she told how she did the national anthem for the RedSox a couple years ago, practicing a "bobby mcferrin' version, which didn't go over very well either with the friends there (Meth? Woj?) or the Rangers batting coach ("what did you think?" >thumbs down<) So, Beth was instructed to "play it straight".... We also heard the "driver's prayer," as well as (new?) "Don't Work With Your Friends" and "My Strange Nation" ("the one op-ed piece of the evening..."). She neglected to pull out "Movie," but did another jaw-dropping version of "La Vie" as an encore... No fashion report, just to tweak you Reality-TV addicts... and Jane was her usual non-smiling self (sorry, Jane! But good to see you again, too!) Paul ************ It takes 43 muscles to frown, and only 17 to smile... However, it doesn't take any at all to just sit there with a dumb look on your face... ************ HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ End of believers-digest V9 #37 ****************************** ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------- -------------------------- This has been a posting from the Susan Werner believers-digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe believers-digest" in the body of the message
